Maldives Promotion House – Phil Rajzman, the 2007 World Longboard Champion and two time Panamerican Champion (2007 and 2009) from Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, is the latest competitor to sign up to Four Seasons Maldives Surfing Champions Trophy 2012, joining a field that includes Tom Curren (USA), Mark “Occy” Occhilupo (Austraila), and Martin “Pottz” Potter (South Africa).

Rajzman is the only Brazilian in history to become world champion of the elite ASP World Tour. With international sporting prowess in his DNA (his father is Olympic volleyball medallist Bernard Rajzman, and his mother is Australian roller-skating star Michele Wollens), Rajzman has been catching waves since he was four years old. Mentored by Brazilian surf legend Rico de Souza, the world first started taking note of Rajzman at the tender age of 15 – and he hasn’t stopped gracing podiums since. He is the consummate master of true grace and balance (check him out on a Si-board with some juggling sticks!), a keen tow-in surfer, kitesurfer and kayaker as well as the star of the movies Surf Adventures and Surf Adventures 2.

Rajzman is most looking forward to bringing his signature fluidity and intricate footwork to the beautiful Maldivian waters. And he is relishing the thought of the challenge that lies ahead: “It is a privilege to compete against these legends of the sport, surfers who have inspired me and have been references for generations. This motivates me to push harder in practice and in my preparation – both physical and mental. It will be an honour to compete with them and a glory to be able to beat them.”

Hosted in conjunction with luxury surf pioneers Tropicsurf,Four Seasons Maldives Surfing Champions Trophy 2012 sees six ex-world champions battle it out on single-fin, twin-fin and triple-fin boards in a USD 25,000.00 showdown for the ultimate crown.

Billed as “the world’s most luxurious surfing event,” the Surfing Champions Trophy is hosted aboard Four Seasons Explorer – the Maldives ultimate surf vessel – with all competitors, judges and spectators taking up residence on Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa’s paradisiacal private coral island for the duration of the event.

Guests booking Kuda Huraa’s all-inclusive four- or seven-night Champions Trophy package – available from August 27 to September 2, 2012 only – can get right on top of the action with competition day passes aboard the vessel plus three half-day surfing passes with Tropicsurf. Back on land, they’ll also get to rub shoulders with their surfing heroes and experience a level of intimacy and camaraderie unique in competition surfing.
