Maldives amongst best value summer destinations for Brits
Maldives is amongst the best value holiday destinations for British travellers during the summer, data from TripAdvisor shows.
The results are in a new report by TripAdvisor that charts the top 10 long-haul and short-haul destinations based on the biggest interest from Brits and the average one-week holiday costs for hotels and flights.
According to the report, Maldives and Dubai are the two most expensive top long-haul holidays, but huge savings can still be had if holidaymakers are savvy about when to travel. In the case of the Maldives, a saving of 134 percent could be made if travelling on June 5 instead of three weeks later, it said.
With the savings in mind, Maldives is the fourth best value long-haul destination for Brits during the summer.
Hayley Coleman, TripAdvisor’s spokesperson, told The Scottish Sun: “Travellers who choose their travel dates carefully when planning a trip abroad this summer stand a chance of picking up some major savings.”
Britain is a major source market for the Maldives tourism industry. More than 100,000 British travellers visited the Maldives last year, a 9.8 percent increase from the year before.
