Four Seasons Hospitality Apprenticeship

Maldives Promotion House – Four Seasons Resorts Maldives has announced the preliminary Information Sessions and Application Interviews for its Hospitality Apprenticeship Class of 2013, which will offer up to 50 young Maldivians one year’s vocational training in the areas of Food & Beverage Preparation or Service, Maritime Transport, Housekeeping & Guest Services, PADI Dive Master or Water Sports Attendant.

Information Sessions and Application Interviews will take place at Raa Atoll Dhuvaafaru on 3rd December 2011, Fuvahmulah on 9th December, Addu City on 10th December, Male City on 10th and 11th December, Lhaviyani Atoll Naifaru or Hinnavaru on 16th December, Noonu Atoll Velidhoo on 17th December and Baa Atoll on 13 and 14 January 2012.

Interested applicants who are unable to attend one of the above sessions should complete and return an Application Form by 15th February 2012. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interview, with successful applicants invited to join the programme from 14th April 2012 to 13th April 2013.

The programme is open to young Maldivians aged 17 to 20, with O-Level certifications, an enthusiastic service-minded attitude, an excellent disciplinary record and fluency in both written and spoken English. Previous work experience is not required.

Apprentices live and work at Four Seasons Resorts Maldives, training in Resort operations five days a week, with theory classes one day a week. Performance appraisals and tests are taken at regular interviews with Food & Beverage, Safe Maritime Transport and Housekeeping & Guest Services Apprentices also assessed for the Government of Maldives Technical and Vocational Education and Training certification (TVET).

The Four Seasons Resorts Maldives Apprenticeship Programme is the most successful and longest running of its kind in the Indian Ocean. During its decade of operation, its reputation has grown to such an extent that virtually all Apprentices get a job upon graduation, with a level of skill that would otherwise have taken years to acquire.

A native of Germany, Chef Joachim Textor began his illustrious career as a cook at various world-class hotels in Switzerland. After honing his skills at the Hilton in Basel, the Park Hotel in Vitznau and the Hyatt Hotel in Montreux, he decided to expand his culinary repertoire by exploring the tastes and cuisines of the world. His past assignments include the G12 Asian Summit Conference in Busan, where he cooked for such prestigious world leaders as George W. Bush, Angela Merkel and Li Peng.

A positive and cheerful personality with an energetic passion for innovation in his creations, Chef Joachim is now set for the next adventure in his culinary journey. JOALI Appoints Özgür Cengiz as Global Wellness Development Director

Cengiz brings over 20 years of experience in the hospitality and wellness industry. His career began with the opening team of Turkey’s first wellness resort, Richmond Nua Wellness, followed by leadership roles at Jumeirah in Azerbaijan and One&Only Reethi Rah in the Maldives.

In 2016, Cengiz joined JOALI as the Resort Manager for JOALI Maldives, the brand’s first art-immersive resort. He then played a pivotal role in establishing JOALI BEING, the Maldives’ first wellbeing island, as its General Manager.

Under Cengiz’s leadership, JOALI BEING garnered global recognition as a leading wellness destination. He is credited with creating the unique concept, curating a team of specialists, and introducing a diverse range of treatments – solidifying JOALI’s position as a wellness powerhouse.

Cengiz’s dedication extends beyond JOALI. His innovative approach and solution-oriented mindset have earned him widespread respect within the industry.
