Komandoo Maldives appoints new General Manager
Komandoo Maldives Island Resort has announced the appointment of Owen Ealden as its General Manager.
Prior to accepting the offer to lead the passionate team at Komandoo and to continue to strive forward in making Komandoo the go-to adults-only resort in the Maldives, Owen acquired a wealth of experience in his role as Executive Chef at Kuredu Island Resort, and was instrumental in both the pre-opening phase and the operation of Hurawalhi to date as Director of Food and Beverage. The success of Hurawalhi’s 5.8, the world’s largest all-glass undersea restaurant, can in many ways be attributed to Owen’s perfectionism and hard work, aimed at ensuring memorable experiences to resort guests.
Owen brings to Komandoo a strong food and beverage background, as well as enthusiasm, excellent management skills and a deeply woven desire to keep guest satisfaction high and to constantly improve on the service provided. Owen’s professional career, which spans 10 countries over five continents, together with his pleasant personality and collegiality are just some of the reasons Komandoo said it is certain that making Owen Ealden the successor of Patrick de Staercke — now at the helm of Hurawalhi Island Resort — in the role of General Manager is an outstanding choice; one that both the team and the resort’s guests will inevitably benefit from.
“There are numerous reasons Komandoo is a favourite to so many visitors. The world-class house reef, stunning white sand beaches, and of course the perfect climate. What sets it apart from the 170 odd other resorts here in paradise are the team. I am thrilled to join a family that so define luxury hospitality. I look forward to welcoming not only our guests who choose Komandoo as their home away from home, but also those who are next to be captivated by the Komandoo charm,” Owen said.
Located in Lhaviyani Atoll, Komandoo offers 65 villas in three categories; 14 Beach Villas along the western beach of the island, 36 Jacuzzi Beach Villas on the eastern beach and a part on the western beach, 15 Jacuzzi Water Villas arching around the southern end of the island. Each of them is independent well-appointed villas spaced adequately to provide privacy.
The resort also features a range of dining venues and other world-class facilities such as an infinity pool, a spa and water sports activities.
