Maldives showcased at IFTM Top Resa 2018
Maldives has been showcased at IFTM Top Resa, the largest travel trade fair held in France.
Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) along with 34 industry partners are participating at the four-day fair being held from September 25-28. The Maldives delegation is headed by MMPRC’s Acting Managing Director Haris Mohamed.
Maldives stand, which is located at Pavilion 7 with other Asia Pacific countries, sports a colourful branding of the destination. Visitors have the opportunity to experience the natural beauty of the Maldives through VR Gears and taste some Maldivian snacks.
Meanwhile, the Maldives delegation is meeting with industry professionals to further develop and strengthen the presence of the destination within the French market. Meetings are being held with airlines, major tour operators and travel trade partners to pursue ways in which French arrivals to the Maldives can be increased over the coming years.
France is amongst the top markets to the Maldives. In 2017, a total of 42,365 tourist arrivals were recorded from France, which is an increase of 4.6 percent compared to 2016. As of July 2018, 32,403 French tourists have visited the Maldives this year — an increase of 23.9 percent compared to the same period of last year.
“With the French market booming in 2018, with almost 24 percent growth compared to same period in 2017, we are very confident that Top Resa 2018 edition will be a success. We have already received positive feedback from the French travel trade: the sales trends for the winter season are positive,” Haris said, in a statement.
IFTM Top Resa is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year with a new corporate identity. Since its inception in 1979 as a trade fair exclusively for the leisure travel industry, IFTM Top Resa has now expanded its scope to cover all segments of the travel trade: leisure, business, MICE and groups.
