So Starstruck at Soneva Jani, Maldives’ first overwater observatory

For a truly ‘out of this world’ experience, Soneva Jani is inviting aspiring astronomers to try out its observatory, the first overwater observatory in the Maldives.

The recently opened Soneva Jani boasts a sophisticated telescope that rises through the floor of the observatory deck, offering guests enchanting views of the starry sky above. Guests can listen to Soneva Jani’s resident astronomer, on hand at the observatory deck to offer an introduction to astronomy, whilst more seasoned star-gazers can opt for a private astronomy lesson to learn the intricacies of the night sky.

Those seeking a truly rare experience can arrange an exclusive dining experience in the company of the stars at So Starstruck, where screens linked to the telescope allow guests to enjoy the celestial view whilst sampling Soneva’s exquisite cuisine.

Following a stargazing session at the overwater observatory, guests can retire to their villas to put their knowledge into practice, thanks to the retractable roofs in the master bedroom that slide back to reveal the night sky.

Soneva Jani is Soneva’s newest property, which opened in late 2016. Soneva Jani encompasses a collection of 24 overwater villas and one island villa set in a 5.6 kilometre private lagoon located in the northern Noonu Atoll. The resort spans five islands surrounded by pure white beaches, covered in rich tropical vegetation, offering the ultimate in privacy and luxury.
