Children’s Day at Dusit Thani Maldives for local school kids
Maldives.net.mv – Driven by the spirit of celebrating precious childhood years, Dusit Thani Maldives recently celebrated Maldivian Children’s Day on 17 May 2014. The resort planned a series of activities throughout the day which helped children to discover the operations of the resort’s behind the scenes.
The resort chose the theme of “Children & Hospitality”. Idea was to give a bird’s eye view and tour of the resort to the young minds who will grow up and work in hospitality sector, since tourism predominently contributes to Maldives’ economy and GDP. The day’s programme included activities at resort’s kids club, an educational tour of behind-the–scenes resort operations covering engineering and housekeeping departments, followed by an overall walk around the resort including rooms and swimming pool.
To maximise the celebrations, the resort extended an invitation to the schools of the neighbouring local islands. Twenty two grade-3 students from Dharavandhoo School and Kihadhoo School attended the Children’s Day festivities along with their teachers and parents.
It is worth mentioning that the kids were amazed to see how in-house water bottling plant operates at the resort, in addition to a brief talk on energy saving practices by the engineering staff.
When it was time to break for fun and some entertainment, kids played and interacted at the Baan Sanook Kids Club, where they participated in face painting activities, sketching and played table football (foosball).
The children enjoyed a delectable feast for lunch at Market restaurant which was especially prepared for the occasion. Joy and happiness took over the resort as the laughter and giggles of the little ones uplifted both parents and resort staff.
