Maldives participates at JATA 2014, in Tokyo, Japan

2 Maldives (w) – The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) together with 4 representative companies from the tourism industry are taking part in the JATA Tourism EXPO Japan 2014, being held in Tokyo, Japan from 25th to 28th September 2014.

JATA Tourism EXPO Japan 2014 is an integrated leading tourism event by The Tabi Fair Japan and the JATA “TABIHAKU” Travel Showcase. JATA 2014 is well organized with International tourism forums, business meetings, travel showcase, award commendation and ceremonies.

This fair is the largest venue for countries to showcase and promote their attractions and a great opportunity for tourism representatives to share their views, thoughts and ideas and to discuss on the promotional opportunities for their regions. Apart from providing the largest venue for such a platform, JATA will also propose “travel life” from various angles and create a movement by informing consumers of “The Power of Travel”. This event since its beginning has been a success, with over 950 exhibitors from 150 countries, visited by 110,078 visitors from which 39,500 are professionals. This event has been the largest international tourist exposition in Japan intended for professionals and the general public.

The Japanese market used to be one of the top 5 markets that had the most number of tourists from to Maldives. But in 2004 and 2011 there was a slight drop in the outbound travel from Japan due to some natural disasters. However, the Japanese outbound travel market has picked itself back up and is now again in the top 10 markets where Maldives is most visited from. Maldives is again amongst the top destination that is most preferred by the Japanese outbound market, over other similar destination. The easy accessibility and free visa on arrival makes Maldives a more desirable destination.

Through exposure and promotion at JATA Tourism EXPO Japan 2014, Maldives has the opportunity to increase the Japanese market arrivals once again. The Japanese market has a lot of potential to grow; hence this is the perfect platform to showcase and promote Maldives to the Japanese market, for them to experience the beauty of Maldives, yet again.
