Maldives declares rays as a protected species

Manta Ray – Maldives has protected all types of ray in its waters. Environment Protection Agency (EPA) announced its decision to all types of rays in its oceans, starting from 5th June, the World Environment Day.

According the agency it would be illegal to capture, keep or harm any type of ray within the waters of Maldives once the rule had been made.

Rays are one of the biggest attraction for tourists visiting Maldives. There are 18 types of rays living in the Maldivian seas now according to the findings.
