Sounds of Maldives at Mount Lavinia
Maldives Promotion House – Sounds of Maldives, an event which has gained popularity in the recent few years has announced a performance in Sri Lanka. Mostly focused on purely Maldivian music, with a touch of modern contemporary tunes the event will be held this weekend on 8th June, at Paradise Beach, Mount Lavinia Hotel.
According to Highrise, the organisers, this year’s performances will be carried out by over 40 performers. The famous artists from Maldives, scheduled to participate includes Ritte, Mummu, E.sa, Fasy, Unoosha, Barchie, 1 Knight Stand, The Void Arcadium, Furadhan and Varadhaana Beru.
“Undoubtedly Maldives has some really talented artists. But the outside world does not get exposed to their works of art often. What we are trying to do is, promote Maldives as a destination through music,” a Highrise spokesperson said.
“The event will set a very unique atmosphere. We chose that specific location because we wanted to create the Maldivian feel. With the sea, sand and palm trees, along with Bodu Beru and local musicians as well. Most importantly all musicians will play original pieces.
Organized and managed by Highrise, in association with Dhivehi Records, the event is supported by and will be officially hosted by Mount Lavinia Hotel. Dhivehi Records is a Maldivian record label which promotes local artists and local music productions.
Sounds of Maldives has also been held in Malé the capital city, and Kuda Bandos. Famous artists who performed in 2011 include Unoosha, Barchie, E.sa, The 5, Dj Vifak, Harubee, Mira and Umar. The event will begin on 09:00 pm and tickets are priced at Rs 1500. Tickets can be purchased from 31st May to 08th June, at Mount Lavinia Hotel.
