Amilla Fushi announces talks with Robin Thicke to bring world-renowned music to Maldives

Amilla Fushi is working with popular American singer Robin Thicke to create an international music scene on the island resort.

Robin has become a frequent performer in Amilla and was in the island late last month with his girlfriend April Love Geary for a romantic getaway.

Mark Hehir, CEO of The Small Maldives Island Company (TSMIC) which manages Amilla and its sister property Finolhu Maldives, told attendees of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai that he was working with Robin to “bring music to the island in the long term.”

“… we had Robin Thicke on the island. He got up and sang in the bar a few times. It was very impromptu and wasn’t planned at all,” he was quoted as saying at the fair, which was held from April 24-27.

Amilla and Finolhu are no stranger to celebrity offerings, having hosted several star-studded events ranging from culinary experiences to entertainment.

TSMIC has recently partnered with New York hospitality group Butter Group to launch 1OAK Finolhu Blhu and 1OAK Lounge at Amilla. The 1OAK Beach Club at Finolhu brings nightly entertainment and events featuring world’s top performers and hottest DJs to the island’s magnetic two-story Beach Club Bar crowned by a 360 degree panoramic lounge. The stunning 1OAK Lounge at Amilla, meanwhile, offers signature cocktails coupled with live DJ.

Amilla has also introduced exclusive tree houses in collaboration with Bodyism along with a special wellness package. The exclusive Wellness Tree Houses by Bodyism, which combines a secluded spa experience in the treetops with an ultimate wellness retreat, will be personally overseen by Bodyism founder James Duigan from time to time.

The latest addition to that list is a series of restaurant pop-ups at Amilla featuring Gordon Ramsay’s celebrated London restaurant, Bread Street Kitchen. In the coming 12 months, Barolo Grill at Baazaar will showcase a select series of pop-ups by culinary greats, kicking off on May 1-10 with the first of four stages this year by the team from the Bread Street Kitchen. A further three Bread Street Kitchen pop-ups are scheduled for October16-27, December 19 to January 10 (Festive Season), and March 23 to  April 7, 2018 (Easter).

Located in the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of Baa Atoll, Amilla Fushi offers guests a choice of 71 rooms with the smallest measuring a generous 200 square metres, and the largest a palatial 3,000 square metres. The Javvu Spa, located in the silent, verdant garden of the Wild Grove, offers 15 treatment rooms as well as yoga and fitness pavilions.

Bringing a timeless sense of style to the pristine lagoons and rich waters of Baa Atoll, Finolhu, which opened last June, is a refined, retro-inspired island paradise for the fun-loving beach-erati, and an unexpected revival of the halcyon days of the classic chic getaway. With its retro themed Maldives island concept, Finolhu caters to guests seeking fun and adventure on a party atmosphere.
