MTDC invites proposals for Vodamulaa Island
Maldives Promotion House – Maldives Tourism Development Corporation Plc (MTDC) has invited proposals for Vodmulaa Island in Gaafu Alifu Atoll.
According to MTDC this is open for both Maldivian and foreign investors, either form a joint venture partnership with MTDC for the development and operation of a resort or full outright purchase of the island for development and operation of a resort.
The Request for Proposal (RFP) is available from MTDC website (www.mtdc.com.mv). A pre-submission meeting to provide information about the RFP to the interested parties will be held on 18th October 2012, 1400 hours at MTDC Head Office. Interested parties must submit their Proposal on or before 8th November 2012, 14:00 hours.
Vodamulaa is situated in the southern region of the Maldives, and is 10 minutes by speedboat from newly opened Kooddoo Airport. It is a 50- hectare island surrounded by a beautiful reef. The island is leased to MTDC by the Government of Maldives for 50 years from 2007 to develop as a 150-room tourist resort. Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and the Resort Concept of
the island has been approved by the authorities.
