Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas is proud to announce the highly anticipated reopening of its esteemed overwater teppanyaki restaurant, Fire. Following an extensive transformation, Fire emerges with an elevated aesthetic, an expanded seating capacity, and a tantalising new menu.

Renowned for its fusion of Japanese and Peruvian cuisines, Fire has long been a guest favourite at Anantara Kihavah, where it forms a popular component of the resort’s signature SEA.FIRE.SPICE.SKY. dining complex with its quartet of distinct dining experiences.

The revamped restaurant embraces a fresh and modern look while preserving and honouring its distinctive high dome ceiling design which was inspired by the shape of a cuttlebone, an integral part of the original restaurant’s structure. The enhanced sense of arrival from the restaurant entrance promises to elevate the overall dining experience, creating lasting memories for Anantara Kihavah’s esteemed guests. With seating for 16 guests, a highlight of the distinctively designed venue is the theatrical teppanyaki display so expertly performed by the chefs.

One new feature is an extended overwater structure which has been seamlessly connected to the original restaurant. Featuring a raised ceiling under a thatched roof, the structure is complemented by a dramatic chandelier, and showcases an expansive sushi counter along with additional seating for another 20 guests. The expanded seating capacity ensures that more guests can savour the restaurant’s culinary delights while taking in the breathtaking panoramic views of the Indian Ocean.

Another highlight of Fire’s reopening is the introduction of an all-new menu featuring a curated selection of sake and other specialty beverages. Well-versed in the art of Japanese and Peruvian cuisines, the restaurant’s talented chefs are ready to delight guests by taking them on a gastronomic journey that combines precision cooking techniques with vibrant flavours.

A breathtaking moment beneath the Maldivian skies has earned international recognition, as Manta Sunset Wave, captured by award-winning underwater photographer Henley Spiers, has been shortlisted for the prestigious Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation Environmental Photography Award 2026.

The image, taken during a diving retreat at Radisson Blu Resort Maldives, beautifully encapsulates the magic of the Maldives’ underwater world. Photographed in the waters of the South Ari Atoll during a evening excursion, the image captures the graceful movement of manta rays at sunset, an awe-inspiring reminder of the Maldives’ rich and diverse marine ecosystem.

As one of just 36 shortlisted works selected by an international panel of renowned nature, wildlife, and conservation photographers, Manta Sunset Wave will be featured in the Foundation’s 2026 international exhibition. The collection will debut in the Principality of Monaco before touring globally and will also be featured in a high-quality commemorative photobook, bringing these powerful visual stories to audiences around the world.

Beyond its visual splendour, the image highlights the importance of conservation photography in protecting fragile marine ecosystems. One year on: Centara Grand Lagoon Maldives marks milestone

Centara Grand Lagoon Maldives, part of Centara Hotels and Resorts, has marked its first anniversary, highlighting a year of operations as a luxury island resort within The Atollia development.

During its first year, the resort has received international recognition, including being named among Favourite Overseas Leisure Hotels in the Condé Nast Traveller Middle East Readers’ Choice Awards 2025 and listed among the Top Ten Best Maldives Resorts in the DestinAsian Readers’ Choice Awards 2026.

Since opening, the resort has offered a collection of beachfront and overwater villas, along with two- and three-bedroom residences designed to provide privacy and space. Accommodation options include private pools or Jacuzzis, with design elements incorporating contemporary architecture, natural materials and Thai-inspired influences.

The resort’s concept draws on Thai heritage, reflected across its wellness, dining and guest experiences. At SPA Cenvaree Retreat, treatments are inspired by traditional Thai wellness practices.
