The island of Kuredu is located just 35 minutes away from the capital Male, by seaplane. With its natural geographical setting, Kuredu is one of the largest resorts in the Maldives. Situated in Lhaviyani Atoll, Kuredu and other islands around same area are some of the most well known spots for their incredible diving and snorkeling spots.

Kuredu boasts of the largest diving centres in the Maldives, that is Prodivers Dive School. This is a 5 Star Instructor Development Centre and holds wide courses starting from beginner’s lessons, and bubble maker courses for little children.

The fully qualified group of divers at Kuredu goes on about 7 boat dives per day, which includes the early morning dive and a night dive, so even for a person who’s just starting diving, this will be an experience that is unforgettable. The underwater at night, and during the day are like two different worlds, and is one every guest should be able to witness that magic that is the Maldivian Underwater.

Prodivers is a 5 Star Instructor Development Centre and starting from beginners to the highest level, all diving courses are conducted on PADI level, which is accepted worldwide. With their members and instructor arriving from all over the world, Prodivers has a multi-lingual team working with them at all levels of the courses.

Safety comes first with Prodivers team and as such, their safety measures are better and bigger than ever before. In September 2006, Prodivers installed a 2 man decompression chamber, and is managed by European doctors who are well qualified for the job.

Kuredu Island resort, located in Lhaviyani Atoll, has around 45 beautiful dive sites located nearby and around the resort. These dive sites are kept protected and safe as these spots aren’t visited by many divers and haven’t been, in the past 20 years. Sacred, breathtakingly beautiful and definitely one not to miss, almost more than 80 percent of guests who visit Kuredu Island Resort try diving, or snorkeling before going back.

Kuredu Island Resort is easily one of the largest resorts in the Maldives and is divided into three distinctive separate resorts – ‘O’ resorts and ‘Sangu’. They each have their own restaurants, and beautifully designed rooms.

Sun Siyam Iru Fushi has introduced an exciting new activity for ocean enthusiasts: Conservation Snorkelling. Led by the resort’s resident marine biologist, Mohamed Shah, this immersive experience allows participants to contribute to marine conservation efforts while exploring the vibrant underwater ecosystem of the Maldives. Combining education, exploration, and action, the initiative offers an enriching opportunity for visitors of all ages.

Participants engage in collecting critical data on coral health and fish populations using underwater fish guides, coral health charts, and writing slates, while learning to identify various fish species. They assess reef conditions and contribute to the protection of the local marine environment. The findings are then discussed with Mohamed Shah, providing deeper insights into the marine life of the Iru Fushi lagoon and house reef.

This activity is a key component of Sun Siyam Cares, the resort’s initiative focused on environmental protection and community support. Families, young couples, and other guests can participate in global conservation efforts through the Coral Watch citizen science project. The activity is open to strong swimmers aged eight and above who feel comfortable snorkelling.

“At Sun Siyam Iru Fushi, we strive to protect the stunning natural environment around us,” said Abdullah Atham, Resort Manager. “Through activities like Conservation Snorkelling, we encourage guests to explore and actively contribute to ocean conservation.”
