‘Better by the Night’ for Starwood Preferred Guest

Maldives Promotion House – Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide and its award-winning Starwood Preferred Guest® (SPG®) program unveiled a new global promotion, SPG Better by the Night™, where members registered for the promotion can earn unlimited bonus Starpoints® during the earning period of October 1, 2012 – December 20, 2012.  Members will receive up to three times their normal Starpoint awards at more than 1,000 participating hotels and resorts worldwide, with the potential to earn additional bonuses on reservations made through the new SPG App for iPhone® or SPG.com, and for their check-ins on synced Foursquare accounts.

“We continue to provide our members with opportunities that allow for more choice and more flexibility.  Better by the Night gives members the ability to earn more Starpoints not only through their stays around the world, but through their favorite platforms whether it’s SPG.com, our enhanced mobile app or Foursquare,” said Chris Holdren, Senior Vice President, Starwood Preferred Guest.

SPG Better by the Night allows registered members to receive double Starpoints on all eligible stays of 1 or 2 nights, and triple Starpoints on eligible stays of 3 or more nights. An additional 500 bonus Starpoints will be awarded for bookings through the SPG App for iPhone, and 250 bonus Starpoints for stays booked on SPG.com at all 1,100 hotels and resorts in the SPG program. As an added social incentive, SPG members can earn 250 bonus Starpoints for checking in to any Starwood property on synced Foursquare accounts during a confirmed reservation within the earning period.

Launched in March of this year, the SPG App for iPhone utilizes state-aware technology to create personalized guest experiences across Starwood’s nine distinct brands. The new application is part of Starwood’s ongoing commitment to tech innovation to meet the needs of today’s connected global traveler.  For example, Starwood was the first in the industry to offer FaceTime customer service, a feature that’s built into the new SPG App. The app also includes fully integrated booking, member information, comprehensive hotel searches, travel details and access to social media channels. And as with SPG.com, members who book through SPG’s App for iPhone will always receive Starwood’s Best Rate Guarantee.

Azur rooftop at JEN Maldives sets stage for Valentine’s Day dining

JEN Maldives by Shangri-La is set to mark Valentine’s Day with a curated rooftop dining experience at Azur Rooftop, combining ocean views, live music and a specially designed menu for couples.

Taking place against the backdrop of the Malé skyline and the Indian Ocean, the Valentine’s Day dinner is designed for couples seeking an intimate yet lively evening. The experience begins with a Tropical Sweetheart welcome drink, blending strawberry, lime and honey, followed by an amuse-bouche served as a shared moment between partners, featuring romesco mousse in a rye tart.

The dinner continues with a selection of starters including Indonesian chicken satay with peanut sauce and a chilled watermelon coconut gazpacho. A passion fruit and mango sorbet is served as a palate cleanser ahead of the main courses.

For the main course, guests may choose between roasted chicken with thyme and beet jus, seared seabass with smoked paprika mashed potatoes, or beetroot risotto finished with burrata. The dining experience concludes with a dessert sequence titled Kiss Me Goodnight, accompanied by petit fours such as dark chocolate passion bites and strawberry rose macarons. Illy coffee, teas, chilled juices and soft drinks are also included.

Live music performances by Akku will accompany the evening, adding to the rooftop ambience created by soft lighting, décor and panoramic views.
