And for those eager to learn how to surf, a smaller wave breaks just by the resort’s beach.
International Surfing Day – Every year around the summer solstice (June 21), International Surfing Day is commemorated. It is a day in celebration of surfing and a special opportunity for all to pay homage to nature for providing us with such a magical environment. Resort’s team, together with Ocean Dimensions, invites the children from the Maamendhoo local school and their Surf Club to join the surfer guests on this day. As part of the sustainable surfing concept, a representative team of Six Senses Laamu will visit their island and install segregation bins to their school and give a small presentation on the importance of recycling.
Turtle Nesting and Hatching Season – Between March and July, female Green turtles visit the beach to lay their eggs. The Turtle Team of hosts is on call 24 hours in order to ensure that these little ones make it safely to the Ocean. Resort shares the experience of turtle hatching with guests that like to witness these little marvels. Special events took place on World Turtle Day on May 23.

Guests will have the opportunity to dive with the team at “Manta point”, a manta ray cleaning station only a few minutes away from the resort. As they are conducting their research, they will show the guests how to identify manta rays and to participate in the “Manta researcher for a day” program. They will also be offering educational presentations and visit to the Den for some fun Manta educational games with the younger guests.
Celebrity Chefs – What about meeting a surfing chef? Six Senses Laamu will welcome Chef Miki for four dinners and a chance to surf with him from July 28 to August 5. He has been cooking and managing restaurants in Japan, Maldives and Australia for more than 25 years. Apart from food, which he considers a major part of his life, he also has a big love for surfing and traveling to surf. He has surfed waves in more than 20 countries.
