Amjad Thaufeeg appointed Cluster Director of Sales & Marketing at Milaidhoo, Nautilus Maldives
Amjad Thaufeeg has joined Milaidhoo Island Maldives and The Nautilus Maldives as the Cluster Director of Sales & Marketing.
He joins the two luxury properties from Kanuhura Maldives where he served as the Director of Sales & Marketing.
With over 13 years of experience in the tourism industry, Amjad is a highly trained hospitality professional with a Master’s in Business Administration from Anglia Ruskin University in the UK. He has worked with international hotel brands such as JA Resorts, Hilton and Per AQUUM, having served in several key sales and marketing roles at luxury resorts across the Maldives, including Huvafen Fushi Maldives, Niyama Private Islands Maldives, JA Manafaru, and Conrad Maldives Rangali Island.
Maldivian-owned Milaidhoo Island Maldives opened in November 2016 and is proudly rooted in local island traditions, curating a bespoke selection of experiences to showcase the destination.
Set over 13 acres in the Baa Atoll’s beautiful UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, each of Milaidhoo’s 50 private villas has been designed by a Maldivian architect with thatched-roof, spacious interiors, generous private pools , and are serviced by dedicated Island Hosts. The villas are just a short, barefoot stroll away to three world-class restaurants, incredible water sports, fitness centre, spa, yoga and magnificent diving.
A 35-minute seaplane flight from Maldives main Velana International Airport, Milaidhoo is a member of The Small Luxury Hotels of the World.
The Nautilus Maldives welcomed its first guests in February, ushering in a new world of luxury in Baa atoll.
With only 26 beach and ocean houses on a tiny coral reef-encircled island, The Nautilus is a bohemian hideaway located in the only UNESCO biosphere reserve in Maldives. Here, a kaleidoscopic wonderland of incredible marine life awaits discovery: trips to world-renowned Hanifaru Bay to swim amongst manta rays; diving on iridescent coral reefs; exploring remote sandbanks and deserted islands or just cruising the ocean on a custom-built yacht are amongst the many adventures guests can look forward to.
Built by a Maldivian entrepreneur, The Nautilus is his ultimate project in the country, created to express his personal vision of the best that luxury can be – not just in the Maldives, but worldwide. With its philosophy “a world of your own making,” this is a celebration of the individual spirit, liberation and freedom unconditional. A place where guests are encouraged to be themselves and shape their own personal journey. And, most of all, to celebrate the people they’re with, in any way they choose. Because in the end, it’s these simple, elemental pleasures – that ability to simply be – that form the greatest luxury of all.

Halloween at Sun Siyam Iru Veli turns fantasy, not fright
Sun Siyam Iru Veli marked Halloween with a one-day island celebration, “Whimsy Over Wicked,” reimagining the tradition of fright as a fairytale of fantasy on 31 October. The programme invited guests of all ages to immerse themselves in themed workshops, entertainment, and dining experiences designed to encourage creativity and the joy of make-believe.
At the Turtle Kidz Club, children joined a full-house Pumpkin Workshop, decorating pumpkins with gemstones, bright colours, and playful patterns. As the sun set over Fresh Water Beach, the festivities shifted to a Masquerade Evening, where guests enjoyed island beats and signature cocktails and mocktails against a golden horizon. The celebration continued at Turtle Beach with a Beach BBQ Dinner, presenting a Halloween-inspired menu in a storybook setting with live music by the sea.
The night concluded with a private “Cinema Under the Stars” screening, offering an open-air experience that captured the spirit of the occasion.
Through “Whimsy Over Wicked,” Sun Siyam Iru Veli highlighted creativity, connection, and the island’s natural setting. Guests departed with memories shaped by laughter, imagination, and a shared celebration under the Maldivian night sky.
