Kuramathi: Greens and Blues
Maldives Promotion House – Kuramathi Island Resort offers a unique Maldivian holiday experience, surrounded by nature, and suitable for couples and families. Only 20 minutes away from Malé International Airport, via seaplane, Kuramathi has vibrant reefs and sensual spa therapies.
Kuramathi, being an eco-friendly island resort with luxuriant vegetation recently planned a “Green program” for the World Environment Day. Trees were planted to protect the shoreline against erosion and guests participated in a nature walk around the island highlighting the Banyan Trees, Nature Trail and Botanic Walk. A coconut plucking demonstration, and sampling was held as well.
The children were offered games where they counted the number of Banyan Trees on the island and played an “Ice, Water” game. Afterwards the evening was coloured by a short nature film aired on the beach near the Sand Bar with a special Environment Day Cocktail. To celebrate the occasion, Kuramathi is also making a solemn pledge to plant a tree for every tree cut down.
In proximity to the Environment Day, June 8th is marked as World Oceans Day. As most of the world is made up of water there is very little need to explain its importance to us.
Kuramathi is planning to celebrate this global event by hosting a special program. Certified divers can join in the afternoon to clean up the house reef after which you will be served fresh coconuts on the beach.
They are also planning on launching their first underwater photography competition, open for all our guests. Guests are asked to submit their underwater masterpieces from 1st to 8th June. The top three candidates are rewarded special prizes. Images submitted shall be reviewed by the voting panel consisting of guests and team members, and the winning photos will be displayed at the Eco Centre.
