FHAM exhibition, culinary challenge kicks off with over 500 participants

Food and Hospitality Asia Maldives (FHAM) Exhibition and International Culinary Challenge 2017 kicked off Tuesday with more than 500 participants.
This year’s edition of FHAM Exhibition and International Culinary Challenge will take place by Thursday at the main convention centre of Dharubaaruge in capital Male. The exhibition is open for public from 10am to 7pm everyday.
After inaugurating the exhibition Tuesday afternoon, economic minister Mohamed Saeed highlighted its importance to local businesses, saying that it would enable global buyers and suppliers to enter into the local market.
“This event provides a platform for local businesses to network with their international peers,” he said.
With more than 110 stalls representing over 50 companies, including local, regional and international players, FHAM is the largest gathering of the hospitality industry in the Maldives. Exhibitors include companies supplying food and beverage items, kitchen equipment and systems, cutleries and crockery, in-room amenities and furniture required by the industry.

FHAM plays host to the International Culinary Challenge, which attracts as many as 500 chefs from over 75 resorts, hotels and restaurants in the Maldives and the region. The culinary challenge is organised by the Chefs Guild of Maldives in association with the Chefs Guild of Sri Lanka.
A Housekeepers Challenge, a Mocktail Competition and a Barista Championship are also being hosted during FHAM.
Meanwhile, enthusiastic professionals can enrich their knowledge and experience by attending the International Hospitality Seminar, which is conducted during the event and by leading hospitality experts.
Lily International has retained the title sponsorship of FHAM this year.

Dubai Chocolate Brownies in Maldives: BBM, Dreidoppel conclude pastry tour

BBM’s exclusive Dreidoppel Demo Tour, led by Master Pâtissier Frankie Robin, concluded successfully on Apr 30th, after a 10-day pastry training series across 15 leading Maldivian resorts that requested the training. Two city bakeries were also trained on the 30th. The initiative brought together global expertise and a strong commitment to raising pastry standards in the local hospitality industry.
This year’s sessions focused on practical pastry solutions using Dreidoppel’s premium ingredient range to create Panettone, Dubai chocolate brownies, Mousses, Crème Brûlée, Fill & Gloss applications, and Caramel Chocolate Snacks.

A standout feature of the tour was the passion shown by young chefs across the islands.
Chef Frankie Robin remarked, “What truly impressed me was how prepared and passionate the young chefs were. Their eagerness to learn, experiment, and take their skills to world-class standards made every session an absolute joy.”

Grounded in real kitchen challenges—speed, flavour, and efficiency—Chef Frankie’s demos showcased how smart ingredient choices can drive both creativity and performance.

BBM brings Vaseline, Hellmann’s, BRU Coffee to Maldives market

Bestbuy Maldives (BBM) extended their strong and decades old partnership with Unilever International, by adding to their brand portfolio – Vaseline, Hellmann’s, and BRU Coffee for the Maldivian market.
