Maldives Promotion House – The Spa Retreat, a destination spa that operates as a ‘resort-within-a-resort’ at Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, is welcoming the arrival of naturopath Hania Opienski in March.  Her specialties include Traditional Chinese Medicine acupuncture (which can include electro-acupuncture and cupping), iridology (observation of the eye to develop an understanding of the constitution), flower essences (energetic medicine that works with emotional balancing) nutrition, and naturopathy (which encompasses all three elements as well as Western herbal medicine and lifestyle advice).  Reiki and ear candling are also available at the Spa Retreat.

Hania’s role at the Spa Retreat is to offer a helping hand in guiding guests achieve overall wellness in a welcoming and healing setting.

“Naturopathy and acupuncture are both very broad holistic therapies that can address any issues the guest may have, whether physical, mental, emotional or even spiritual,” Hania said.  “As these therapies are aimed at creating holistic balance, it’s possible to address a wide range of health issues in a typical consultation.  You don’t have to be ill to see me; I can assist with meeting goals for weight loss, stress reduction, or improving energy levels as well”.

Naturopathy sessions are priced at USD 155 for a 90-minute consultation, which includes a 30-minute iridology diagnosis followed by an in-depth discussion about health history, diet, lifestyle and exercise. Hania will offer personalized guidance to meet the guest’s particular requirements and lifestyle whether it be a short-term health pick-me-up or addressing long term concerns.

Hania also hosts weekly free health sessions at the resort where she presents different themes introducing the benefits of naturopathy and acupuncture, and can answer questions from curious guests.

British born and bred, with a Polish and Indian background, Hania is an acupuncturist with over five years’ clinical experience in London and Melbourne. Initially trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine acupuncture (TCM) she has also studied cosmetic acupuncture. In addition, she uses energetic medicine such as Reiki and Life Alignment Technique to enhance her treatments where appropriate.

She holds a Bachelors of Science degree and Licentiate Diploma in TCM acupuncture from The London College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and a Bachelor of Health Science degree in Naturopathic Nutritional Medicine from the Endeavour College of Natural Health in Melbourne which included iridology, two years of naturopathic Western herbal medicine and practitioner level training in both the Australian Bush Flower and Bach Flower Essences.

The Spa Retreat is a self-contained resort-within-a-resort set on stilts over the lagoon. It consists of 21 spacious Retreat Water Villas, each with their own private treatment room and mini-gym, clustered around a central spa.  The spa has nine treatment rooms, five with private pavillions with sauna and steam room and Jacuzzi or private plunge pool, as well as a hair salon, boutique, sun deck, relaxation area and a natural herbal dispensary.  A restaurant serving bio-dynamic and organic produce completes the Spa Retreat.

The Spa Retreat philosophy is based on the five elements of life – earth, air, fire, water and plant – each providing its own wellbeing characteristic and featuring its own signature aromatherapy blend. Organic Eminence products, luxury spa line Terrake and ghd hair spa products are used to complement the philosophy.

Together with a spa consultant, guests can create the wellbeing programme that best suits their individual needs, be it a one hour treatment or 10-day package combining therapies, gourmet spa cuisine and fitness activities to suit their goals, from it detox to relaxation. The resident naturopath and nutritionist is on hand to offer consultations and provide supplements or herbs from the herbal dispensary.
