For the remainder of 2026, COMO Maalifushi and COMO Cocoa Island will offer an inspiring calendar of COMO Journeys and visiting practitioner residencies, bringing together leading experts, artists and wellness specialists from around the world.

Rooted in ocean stewardship, artistic expression and holistic wellbeing, each programme is thoughtfully crafted to reflect the distinctive character of its island setting. Through immersive experiences and expert-led encounters, guests are invited to discover the Maldives in new ways, deepening their appreciation of the natural world while cultivating creativity, balance and personal renewal.

At COMO Maalifushi, COMO Journey with Guardians of the Reef will take place from October 20th to November 2nd 2026, with Sharks4Kids. Led by marine biologist Jillian Morris and Emmy Award-winning cinematographer Duncan Brake, the family-focused programme explores the world of sharks through guided reef adventures, marine education, citizen science and underwater storytelling.

The resort will also feature two visiting practitioners, the first, “Holistic Reset for Body and Mind” will take place from September 21st to October 5th 2026, and will include personalised treatments by physiotherapist and osteopath Martina Wegscheider. These treatments will combine osteopathy, craniosacral therapy, energy alignment, and mindful movement.

The second residency, “Balance and Harmony” is scheduled from December 1st to January 10th, 2027. Wellness practitioner Kimberly Rose Kneier will lead this program, which will integrate various holistic practices, including acupuncture, Qi Gong, breathwork, and craniosacral therapy.

At COMO Cocoa Island, COMO Journey with Ocean Culture Life takes place from October 19th to October 31st 2026. This event will be led by award-winning photographer Matt Porteous and environmental advocate Tamsin Raine, who are the founders of Ocean Life Culture. The residency will combine photography, ocean film, storytelling, and conservation efforts. Guests will have the opportunity to participate in photography workshops, youth sessions, marine capture experiences, film nights, and discussions that explore the connection between people and the sea.

The island will host “The Art of Japanese Healing”, featuring practitioner Yuki Nishikubo from November 16th to December 27th 2026. With over 25 years of experience, Nishikubo will provide personalised Japanese acupuncture and Shiatsu treatments to promote relaxation, balance, and overall well-being.

The final event of this year’s creative programme is “From Sea to Self”, a COMO Journey featuring acclaimed artist and Paralympian Gregory Burns, taking place from December 8th to December 27th 2026. Through open studios, intimate conversations and hands-on workshops, Burns will explore the relationship between art, nature and personal transformation. The programme will culminate in an exhibition showcasing the works created during his residency.

“Meaningful travel is about creating experiences that stay with you long after you leave. Through our COMO Journeys and residencies of visiting practitioners, we hope to give guests a deeper connection to the Maldives, whether through the ocean, creativity, conservation or wellbeing, while celebrating the people and ideas that make each experience unique,” says Peter Nilsson, Managing Director of COMO Resorts, Maldives.

Huvafen Fushi expands wellness offering with Aromatherapy Associates treatments

Published

on

Huvafen Fushi Maldives is expanding its wellness offering with two new longevity-focused treatments from Aromatherapy Associates, available now at Huvafen Spa, the resort’s iconic underwater spa.

The launch arrives as longevity becomes the defining word in luxury travel. Virtuoso’s 2026 travel data reinforces the shift, naming longevity tourism as luxury travel’s breakout segment, with wellness-focused hotel bookings up 28% and travellers increasingly seeking sleep optimisation, metabolic health support and measurable, long-term outcomes over one-off spa treatments. The Global Wellness Summit’s Future of Wellness 2026 report identifies women’s healthspan as a defining trend of the year, as spa and wellness destinations increasingly launch programmes tailored to female physiology across every life stage, from perimenopause through to menopause and beyond.

The new Recovery Reset and Pause & Reset treatments combine the therapeutic power of essential oils with advanced hands-on techniques, offering two distinct approaches to modern wellbeing: one supporting physical recovery and resilience, the other addressing the changing needs of women’s health.

Recovery Reset: restorative bodywork for active lifestyles

Recovery Reset is an advanced restorative body treatment designed to support muscular recovery, mobility and long-term physical wellbeing. Going beyond traditional aromatherapy massage, it introduces a range of advanced bodywork techniques:

  • Myofascial release – to help release deep-held tension and improve mobility
  • Advanced deep-tissue massage – to target areas of muscular tension
  • Targeted bodywork – to support physical recovery and ease of movement
  • Therapeutic aromatherapy – combining expert touch with powerful essential oil blends
  • Hot stone therapy – to further support muscular recovery and restoration

Ideal for active lifestyles, travel fatigue and guests seeking a deeper approach to massage, Recovery Reset brings together physical recovery and the restorative benefits of aromatherapy in one deeply therapeutic experience.

Pause & Reset: nurturing support through hormonal change

Pause & Reset is a nurturing treatment dedicated to women’s wellbeing, created to support the physical and emotional effects associated with hormonal change – from PMS and post-pregnancy through to perimenopause and menopause. As the sense of smell is closely connected to emotion and wellbeing, essential oils can offer valuable support during these transitions.

Following a personalised aroma consultation, guests select from three Aromatherapy Associates essential oil blends before experiencing an enhanced treatment incorporating:

  • Inhalation – using the guest’s personally selected essential oil blend
  • Balancing breathwork – to encourage relaxation and reconnection
  • Body brushing – to awaken the body and prepare for treatment
  • Restorative abdominal massage – providing a deeply nurturing focus to the treatment
  • Hand and foot reflex techniques – focusing on the endocrine and reproductive systems
  • Together, the treatments reflect a more holistic approach to longevity, recognising the importance of recovery, movement, rest and emotional wellbeing throughout different stages of life.

Aromatherapy Associates has been a pioneer in therapeutic aromatherapy for more than 40 years, combining expertly crafted essential oil blends with the healing power of touch to create transformative experiences for body and mind.

“We are delighted to introduce these new Aromatherapy Associates treatments,” said Tri Wardani, Director of Spa. “Our approach to wellness continues to evolve alongside the needs of our guests, and these new treatments allow us to offer highly personalised experiences that support both physical and emotional wellbeing in some of the Maldives’ most extraordinary spa settings.”

Guests can experience Recovery Reset and Pause & Reset at the underwater spa at Huvafen Fushi Maldives, alongside a curated selection of Aromatherapy Associates products to continue their wellbeing journey beyond the treatment room.

Villa Nautica’s Araamu Spa wins Best Spa at TTM Awards 2026

Published

on

Araamu Spa at Villa Nautica has been named Best Spa at the TTM Awards 2026, recognising a wellness experience shaped as much by its surroundings as by the treatments themselves.

Hidden within a quiet corner of the island, Araamu Spa feels like a world of its own. Dense tropical greenery surrounds winding pathways, flowers spill into shaded courtyards and the pace of Villa Nautica gradually falls away. It is lush, calm and deeply restorative, a space designed to shift the mood almost as soon as you enter.

Araamu is the dedicated spa and wellness brand of Villa Resorts, with its philosophy carried across the collection. Rooted in relaxation, rejuvenation and a more holistic approach to wellbeing, each Araamu Spa brings together experienced therapists, traditional healing practices and contemporary wellness in settings that remain closely connected to nature. The Villa Nautica spa menu describes the experience as a journey towards restoring balance through classic treatments, Ayurvedic therapies and beauty care.

At Villa Nautica, the experience is particularly immersive. A robust collection of body therapies, facials, Ayurvedic treatments and island-inspired rituals sits alongside flower and herbal bath ceremonies, Jacuzzi, sauna and steam facilities. The spaces themselves are part of the ritual, with private courtyards, tropical planting and moments of complete quiet creating an atmosphere that feels more like a hidden garden sanctuary than a conventional resort spa.

At the heart of the menu is Swept Away, Araamu’s signature experience inspired by the purifying energy of the ocean. The journey begins with warming ginger lemonade, a detoxifying foot ritual and deep breathing before moving through Himalayan salt therapy, scalp reflexology, cool salt-stone massage and a warm herbal vitality bath. It is deliberately transformative, moving through heat, scent, touch and stillness before ending with fresh papaya and time simply to be.

What makes Araamu Spa at Villa Nautica memorable is not one treatment or facility on its own. It is the way everything works together: the greenery, the flowers, the warmth, the stillness and the feeling of being completely removed from the outside world. The Best Spa recognition reflects an experience that does not need to be loud to leave an impression.
