Sunland to manage Hulhumale boutique hotel
Sunland Travel is all set to open a boutique hotel in the satellite town of Hulhumale.
Sunland Travel’s Managing Director Shabeer Ahmed told TTG Asia that the hotel will open in Q1 2018. The three-floor property, which consists of 12 rooms, will cater mainly to business travellers, he added.
“The (journey) from Male takes between 10 to 15 minutes by speedboat. Once the Male-Hulhule bridge project is completed in 2018, it will be a five-minute drive,” Shabeer was quoted as saying.

Sunland Travel already manages the Makunudu Island Resort in North Male Atoll and Biyadhoo Island Resort in South Male Atoll, while its sister company Suland Hotels owns and operates three resorts under the award-winning Coco Collection brand. They are Coco Privé Private Island, Coco Bodu Hithi and Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu.
Hulhumale, linked to the airport island of Hulhule and accessible from capital Male by a 20-minute ferry ride, is a hotspot for business travellers as well as transit passengers. The satellite town is home to several guesthouse and hotels catering to that market.
