Per AQUUM appoints new General Managers for Huvafen Fushi and Niyama
Maldives.net.mv – Per AQUUM has announced the appointment of Mr. Dietmar Koegerl as General Manager of NIYAMA, the company’s edgy, modern resort that lives its tagline, Nature’s Playground, to the fullest offering guests more than a romantic Maldivian escape.
No stranger to the Maldives, Dietmar is known for his passion, creativity and enthusiasm in the hospitality industry, Dietmar explains, “After spending more than 30 years in the Asia Pacific region I can truly say that every aspect of the Maldives astounds me and that every traveller should experience the warmth and beauty at least once in their life. I am very proud to be part of such a visionary team that dares to be different at every turn here.
Born and raised in Ingolstadt, Germany, a graduate of Cornell University and Insead University, Dietmar started his career path in hospitality in Food & Beverage with Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts, working across Asia including in Thailand and Sri Lanka, as well as a number of island properties in the Maldives and the Seychelles. He returned to the Maldives in 2009 in the role of General Manager at Anantara Kihavah Villas, where he spearheaded the successful opening and ongoing operation of one of Anantara’s flagship resorts.
Mr. Marc Gussing is appointed as General Manager of its iconic Maldivian retreat, Huvafen Fushi. Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, Huvafen Fushi is one of the most sought after properties in the Maldives with its highly personalised service, intimate island experience and visionary concepts such as the world’s first underwater spa.
Marc is well known to Per AQUUM, having previously held the role of Director of Operations at Huvafen Fushi in 2005. “To have the opportunity to come back and lead this exceptional property is incredible. Many of the original team members are still here and it really feels like I’ve come home. I’m looking forward to bringing more daringly different concepts to Huvafen Fushi over the next 12 months and building on the strong foundations that are already in place,” he comments.
Prior to and post completing his schooling in hotel management in Switzerland, Marc’s career has taken him across the globe to Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States of America, Monaco, Israel, France, Seychelles, Thailand, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives. Marc is a Swedish national and speaks four languages including English, French, Swedish, and basic Spanish.

Kuredhivaru Resort & Spa has announced a special Easter collaboration with one of the most celebrated Maldivian watercolor artists, Shimha Shakeeb, taking place from 4 to 7 April. Shimha Shakeeb is known for her beautiful watercolor paintings that capture the landscapes, architecture, and traditions of the Maldives.
