AGODA.com Adds More Maldivian Resorts
Maldives Promotion House – Agoda.com, a leading global hotel booking site and part of Nasdaq-listed Priceline Group, has announced the addition of 5 new properties to its resort listings in Maldives.
A nation composed almost entirely of paradise islands; it would take a lifetime to explore every perfect beach in the Maldives. With twin chains of 26 atolls – more than a thousand islands in total – it’s impossible to even imagine visiting them all, as incredible as that journey would be.
Luckily, the beauty of the Maldives is consistent across the archipelago, from the northernmost atoll of Haa Alif to the far southern reefs of Addu. An unforgettable island getaway is practically assured – once travellers decide which resort is best for them, it’s just a matter of getting to Ibrahim Nasir International Airport in time to make their transfer.
The following resorts are some of the newest in this spectacular part of the world. Giving travellers more choice of accommodation in the Maldives, each offers its own style of luxury, with great service, plenty of facilities, and, of course, perfect locations. Opening rates for these new properties are now available through Agoda.com – travellers should check transfer details in the “Important Notice” section of each hotel page.
Dusit Thani Maldives, Mudhdhoo Island
The Dusit Thani Maldives marries Thai hospitality with classic Maldivian landscape: palm fronds, soft sands, and blue skies reflected in an even bluer ocean. Here, guests can choose from overwater or beach villas with or without private pool. The location – Mudhdhoo Island in the Baa Atoll – is a 35-minute, seaplane ride from Malé airport. Nearby, a UNESCO-protected marine park plays host to a feeding ground for manta rays and while sharks.
The Dusit Thani’s villas are equipped with every conceivable luxury: king bed, outdoor rain shower, satellite TV, iPod dock, Internet TV, Nespresso machine, and WiFi. There are multiple bars and restaurants onsite, plus tennis, a fitness studio, and a kids area – not to mention the largest swimming pool in the Maldives. An onsite marine biologist and guest eco-program allows visitors to better understand and preserve this unique environment.

Space and privacy are key at Viceroy, where villas start at 103 square meters and provide an additional 89 square meters of land. At the top end of the scale is the palatial three-bedroom Royal Villa, which houses up to 6 people in 400 square meters of living space.
Villa technology includes Mac Minis loaded with games, music, and movies and full WiFi coverage for those who need to stay connected. Yoga, water sports, diving, and spa treatments are all offered on the island.

Medhufushi Island Resort marks National Day with Maldivian heritage showcase
Medhufushi Island Resort recently marked Maldives National Day with an immersive celebration of Maldivian heritage, transforming the resort grounds into a living museum that reflected the country’s cultural roots. The event recreated the atmosphere of a traditional island village and offered guests the chance to experience authentic island life through interactive activities, performances, and storytelling.
The resort team constructed a replica village featuring ancestral-style houses and traditional architecture that demonstrated the resourcefulness of early island communities. Guests explored the structures and learned how Maldivians adapted to their environment over generations. The experience was enhanced by a variety of activities, including food stalls that served traditional dishes, demonstrations of local craftsmanship, and opportunities to take part in games once enjoyed by island families. Musical traditions were brought to life with the sounds of Bodu Beru drums, where visitors not only observed but also participated alongside local performers.

Cultural performances formed the highlight of the evening, with local women presenting traditional dances that narrated stories of island life and men delivering energetic Bodu Beru drum sessions. Guest participation was strong, with many joining in the dances and trying their hand at drumming. One visitor remarked that it felt like stepping into another time and described learning Bodu Beru from locals as an unforgettable experience.
Resort Manager Iyaz explained that the event is organised annually to preserve and share Maldivian heritage with visitors, noting his pride in the team for creating such an engaging showcase and expressing gratitude to the guests for their enthusiasm.
The celebration reflects the resort’s ongoing commitment to promoting cultural preservation through tourism, ensuring that traditional practices remain visible and valued. By offering authentic experiences, Medhufushi Island Resort connects guests with the history and identity of the Maldives while supporting sustainable tourism.
This annual showcase serves not only as entertainment but also as a bridge between past and present, reinforcing the importance of cultural continuity. Through initiatives such as these, the resort demonstrates how tourism can help protect traditions and foster community pride, enabling visitors to leave with more than memories of beaches and scenery, but with a deeper understanding of the people and heritage of the Maldives.
