Soneva resorts launch ‘Eggtastic’ Easter programmes

Published

on

Soneva, the world-leading luxury resort operator, has launched its Easter programmes across Soneva Fushi and Soneva Jani in the Maldives.

Guests can expect Easter-inspired activities, a number of visiting chefs, professionals and artists as part of the Festival of Colour 2019, as well as special dining and drinks events, signature experiences and much more from April 14-23.

Soneva Fushi

Soneva’s annual Easter egg hunt is back with wooden eggs hidden all over the resort for guests to find. These can be exchanged for chocolate eggs at the chocolate room and the Egg Hunter with the most eggs found will receive a special prize from Lindt.

Continuing the Easter theme is a special Full Moon Dinner and a Pop-Up Easter After Party, both on the sandbank. The party includes music by a famous Maldivian DJ with each couple being given a mini bottle of Champagne. For the whole family there will be a Games Show night at Down to Earth featuring games such as Twister, Ring Shooting and more.

Guests can traverse the night skies with visiting Lars Lindberg Christensen, an award-winning astronomer and science communicator who is responsible for communications from some of the world’s largest and most famous telescopes, including the Hubble Space Telescope (for ESA), the Extremely Large Telescope, the Very Large Telescope, ALMA and La Silla. Lars received the Tycho Brahe Medal in 2005 for his achievements in science communication.

Danish Chef Kamilla Seidler, winner of Latin America’s Best Female Chef award in 2016, and Finnish Chef Filip Langhoff who has one Michelin star will both be hosting dinners over Easter.

In 1995, the award-winning luxury resort Soneva Fushi set the standard for all desert island barefoot luxury hideaways in the Maldives. Located in the Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, Soneva Fushi pairs Robinson Crusoe fantasy with intelligent luxury.

Sixty-two private villas with their own stretch of beach are hidden among dense foliage within touching distance of a pristine coral reef. Intuitive service is provided by Mr./Ms. Friday butlers.

Highlights include the open-air Cinema Paradiso, counting Saturn’s rings in the high-tech Observatory, the home-made chocolate and ice cream rooms, five hundred wines to choose from, six different restaurants and countless destination dining options. In November 2015, Soneva launched a floating villa concept, Soneva in Aqua, a treasure trove children’s Den and a multi-purpose facility encompasses a glass gallery, boutique and studio where guests can learn the art of glass blowing.

If the experiences are magical, the philosophy is simple: No news, no shoes. No pretensions either.

Soneva Jani

The Easter Egg Hunt returns to Soneva Jani with wooden Easter eggs hidden around the resort which can be exchanged for chocolate prizes.

For cocktail enthusiasts, the Cocktail Journey at South Beach will be followed by an Easter-inspired dining pop-ip in the lagoon. Easter egg painting and an Easter-themed quiz for the whole family round off the special activities planned for younger guests.

Soneva Jani’s Grand Master Chef Kiichi Okabe, formerly from a two-Michelin starred restaurant in Japan, is putting on special dinners with wine pairings at So Imaginative. His deftly crafted sushi is known as some of the best outside of Japan.

Other dining and drinks experiences include lunch at the Crab Shack, a Maldivian barbecue dinner at Zuhair’s Beach and a Sunset Celebration with Konrad, Soneva Jani’s new Master Sommelier.

Opened in December 2016, Soneva Jani is Soneva’s newest property and the world-leading luxury hotel group’s second resort in the Maldives.

Soneva Jani is located on the island of Medhufaru within a 5.6 kilometre lagoon in the Noonu atoll, and has uninterrupted ocean views in all directions. The lagoon is 35 minutes by seaplane from Velana International Airport and one hour by speedboat from Soneva Fushi.

Meaning ‘wisdom’ in Sanskrit, Soneva Jani currently comprises 24 overwater villas and one island villa, with additional villas to be built in phase two. Five islands encircle the lagoon, each one with soft white sands and covered in rich tropical vegetation. Four of the five islands will remain untouched, making Soneva Jani the lowest density development in the Maldives. The overwater villas are spaced across the expansive lagoon, offering privacy and extensive views over the Maldives’ turquoise waters. The island villas will be tucked into the lush greenery, providing the ultimate privacy, and all within steps of the beach.

Soneva Jani’s main guest facilities are located at The Gathering, the heart of the overwater villas. This dramatic three story structure is home to the main dining outlets, in addition to the Soneva Spa, library, retail area and wine cellar. It is located next to the Maldives’ first overwater Observatory.

Facilities on the island include the overwater Cinema Paradiso, the Eco Centro Waste-to-Wealth centre, organic gardens, tennis courts, water sports champa and Zuhair’s Beach on a desert island in the lagoon.

‘Bunnies Gone Wild’ becomes bold, Playboy-inspired Easter celebration at Mercure Maldives Kooddoo Resort

Published

on

Mercure Maldives Kooddoo has taken a daring new direction with its Easter 2025 celebrations, turning up the volume on its already provocative theme, Bunnies Gone Wild. Originally teased as a playful adults-only experience, the event has now evolved into a Playboy-inspired celebration; one that invites guests to explore a new kind of freedom, sensuality, and self-expression unlike anything the Maldives has seen before.

The resort had previously announced a week-long Easter program filled with lively entertainment, decadent dining, and themed poolside events. But in a bold, creative shift, Mercure Maldives Kooddoo has reimagined the entire atmosphere of the event, bringing in a seductive flair inspired by the iconic Playboy lifestyle. While still rooted in elegance and good taste, the newly enhanced program introduces elements of glamour, boldness, and a touch of provocation, transforming the experience into something much more than just a holiday celebration.

This is no longer just an Easter event, it is a curated escape for adults who want to feel free to explore, indulge, and enjoy themselves without limits. The Playboy-inspired twist lets Mercure Maldives create that fantasy in a tasteful yet thrilling way. It’s something never seen in the Maldives before.

Throughout the week, guests can expect seductive details woven into every moment, from cheeky in-villa surprises and risqué gift boxes to elevated versions of the resort’s experiences, such as the Bunnies Gone Wild pool party, late-night DJ gatherings, and mixology sessions that now come with a flirtatious edge.

This new direction doesn’t just change the look and feel of the Easter season, it reframes what kind of stories a Maldivian holiday can tell. Guests are invited to step into a space where fun is fearless, self-expression is celebrated, and the lines between luxury and playfulness are delightfully blurred.

Wellness and relaxation still play an essential role, with sound healing, yoga, and Watsu sessions offering guests balance amidst the vibrant energy. But even these moments are being approached with an intimacy and mood that reflect the deeper themes of connection and freedom.

With this final reveal of its enhanced Easter program, Mercure Maldives Kooddoo positions itself at the forefront of creative resort storytelling in the Maldives. By daring to do what others wouldn’t, it promises not just a stay, but an experience that leaves a lasting impression.
