Four Seasons to Organise a Bodu Beru Tournament
Maldives Promotion House – Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru recently announced that they would be holding a Bodu Beru tournament in Baa Atoll, aimed at islanders of 15 to 25 years old.
The tournament is set to be held from November 18th to 25th at Baa Kamadhoo and will celebrate the declaration of Baa Atoll as a UNESCO Biosphere reserve. The winners will be granted a price of MVR 10,000 and the island they belong to will be granted a community project worth MVR 100,000.
According to Four Seasons, the aim of the tournament is to create cultural spirit within the youth and to assist in the development of the community. While the 13 islands of Baa Atoll will take part in the tournament, each island will produce two teams.
“We will assist the winning island by carrying out a project worth MVR 100,000. The project will be something that the community will benefit from, such as the construction of a preschool,” Front Office Manager of Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru, Ismail Nasheed said.
He also said that from each island two participants will be offered the opportunity to stay at the resort for 10 days to learn the techniques of Bodu Beru.
