Six Senses Laamu

Maldives.net.mv – Six Senses Laamu has unveiled exciting enhancements to the private island resort just in time for the winter holidays. In an effort to continually evolve the guest experience, Six Senses has invested in enhancing villa designs, building a main swimming pool and adding a sixth dining outlet.

Ten Laamu Water Villas, three Ocean Beach Villas and three Lagoon Beach Villas now feature a 194 square feet (18 square meters) private plunge pool. A comfortable director’s chair and table corner facing the sea has been created in these villas next to a cozy daybed. Additionally, the Laamu Water Villas now have direct access from the pool deck to the outdoor shower area.

Four Family Beach Villas now include private swimming pools and an extra bedroom specially designed for children. The master bedroom in these villas is only a few steps away from the children’s room and offers expansive views of the swimming pool. One villa features turquoise-blue lagoon views and the other three offer tranquil ocean views.

An impressive new ocean view 7,858 square feet (730 square meters) Beach Villa with two bedrooms and a pool has been added to the inventory which is ideal for large families or friends traveling together. It is comprised of two beach villas each with its own spacious bedroom and outdoor bathroom and central dining and living area which connects the two villas. Al fresco dining tables are available on the garden deck next to the pool and also on the upper deck.

The new dining outlet, Sip Sip with its dramatic sunken bar and adjacent poolside seating, emerges from the new 7,535 square feet (700 square meters) swimming pool and offers guests a great casual all day dining alternative. Featuring hot-from-the-oven pizzas made from the freshest ingredients, crisp salads, juicy burgers, a variety of pasta and locally inspired desserts, Sip Sip also features refreshing cocktails inspired by classic drink recipes and innovative, modern creations by the resort’s popular mixologists plus international beers, fine wines, fresh juices and mocktails. Homemade ice cream and sorbet will also be served. The free-form swimming pool includes a variety of lounge spaces including romantic couple sun loungers and two round sunken decks which extend into the pool with comfortable chill out sofas. The restaurant and pool are open daily from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Six Senses Laamu resident DJ will rotate between Sip Sip to Chill Bar, creating a chilled atmosphere by the pool with ambient and lounge tunes. Located on the sunset side of the island, Sip Sip promises colorful sunsets and a romantic atmosphere every evening.

At Sun Siyam Vilu Reef, romance forms an integral part of the island’s atmosphere, unfolding from the first light of sunrise to the calm of moonlit evenings. This Valentine’s season, the boutique resort is inviting couples to rediscover connection through a curated collection of experiences designed specifically for two. From early morning moments by the lagoon to evenings beneath the stars, each experience is created to celebrate intimacy, encourage togetherness and transform simple moments into lasting memories.

One of the signature experiences offered is the Sunrise Lagoon Breakfast, designed as a gentle beginning to the day in a tranquil setting. Breakfast is served directly over the water, allowing couples to enjoy the warmth of the early sun and the sound of the waves in a private and visually striking environment. The experience is intended for guests who wish to begin the day in a quiet and intimate way.

As evening approaches, couples may retreat to the Tranquillity Package, created for those seeking relaxation and renewal together. The experience takes place in one of the resort’s outdoor cabanas during the golden hour and begins with a traditional foot bath ritual. Guests may then choose between a Balinese massage or an Asian blend massage, followed by a relaxing foot treatment. The ritual concludes with a toast using a chilled bottle of sparkling wine, reflecting the resort’s focus on personalised service and romantic detail.

Nightfall introduces an exclusive date night through the resort’s Cinema by the Moonlight experience. Couples may choose from a floating cinema aboard a dhoni, a sunset cruise with a film, or a private dinner accompanied by champagne in a tailored setting. These experiences combine cinema with the natural beauty of the Maldivian night sky, offering personalised menus and locations designed for an intimate evening.

Throughout February, Sun Siyam Vilu Reef presents its Valentine’s Collection under the theme of Coastal Blush and Champagne Bubbles. The programme includes experiences such as a floating breakfast, signature cocktails, dedicated Valentine’s spa rituals, private lagoon dining and starlit movie nights. Each element is designed to encourage connection and create a relaxed and romantic atmosphere.

Together, these experiences form a season of calm, harmony and reflection for couples, with every detail intended to deepen the sense of escape and support meaningful reconnection at Sun Siyam Vilu Reef.

Sebastian Frank to present ‘Roots & Waves’ menus at Nova Maldives in May 2026

Published

on

Sebastian Frank, acclaimed chef and owner of Berlin’s two-Michelin-starred restaurant Restaurant Horváth, will be a guest chef at Nova Maldives from 10 to 15 May 2026, presenting an exceptional culinary residency. Originally from Austria, Frank has developed a distinctive culinary signature through his philosophy of “emancipated vegetable cuisine” — a radically personal approach that moves far beyond conventional fine dining.

For Nova, Sebastian Frank has created a series of new menus under the theme “Roots & Waves” — bold, uncompromising and defined by clarity. The menus express the essence of his cuisine: no artifice, no luxury for luxury’s sake. Instead, seemingly simple ingredients take centre stage, elevated through precise craftsmanship, creative techniques and the transformative power of time. The result is food with purpose, character and lasting impact.

At the heart of Chef Sebastian’s emancipated vegetable cuisine is an uncompromising focus on vegetables and fruit. During his residency at Nova, ingredients such as aubergine, spinach and pumpkin will play a central role, reflecting his commitment to regional and seasonal produce. By exploring their flavours in multiple dimensions, Chef Sebastian creates a completely new culinary experience. The predominantly vegetarian focus not only reflects his personal philosophy, but also aligns seamlessly with Nova’s sustainability-led concept.

During the residency, Chef Sebastian will host two exclusive gourmet dinners at Flames Restaurant on 10 and 15 May 2026. On 12 May 2026, guests will also have the opportunity to take part in a vegetable-focused cooking class at Soul Kitchen, where Chef Sebastian will present the signature recipe of his iconic dish “Celery – Mature and Young”. The celery component of this dish undergoes a unique maturation process lasting an entire year.

An optional, trend-setting non-alcoholic beverage pairing will be available alongside the menus, featuring tea infusions, house-made vegetable juices, premium oils and refined reductions. All menus are offered either fully vegetarian or, alternatively, with locally sourced fish or meat components.

Sebastian Frank describes his philosophy in his own words: “Restriction is focus, and vegetables are my strongest form of expression. I continually engage with my culinary roots, which enables me to create dishes that emotionally resonate with people. I am very much looking forward to introducing Nova’s guests to my emancipated vegetable cuisine — with refined dishes that unite Maldivian and regional ingredients.”

This approach fits seamlessly with the ethos of Nova Maldives, where enjoyment, sustainability and modern lifestyle converge to create an exceptional fine-dining experience in the heart of the Indian Ocean.

“We are delighted to welcome Chef Sebastian Frank, a true pioneer of vegetable-led cuisine, to Nova,” says Abdulla Aboobakuru, General Manager of Nova Maldives. “We are excited to experience his creative dishes that combine Maldivian ingredients with regional produce. Maldivian cuisine lends itself surprisingly well to vegetarian and even vegan interpretations — traditional fish curry, for example, is now often prepared with sweet potato or jackfruit. Curries featuring pumpkin, aubergine, okra or chickpeas are also popular, alongside vegetarian snacks such as fried plantain or breadfruit. Our guests at Nova will be able to enjoy this diversity throughout the residency.”
