Maldives participates at the Eastern Mediterranean International Tourism and Travel Fair EMITT 2014
Maldives.net.mv – The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) together with 24 representatives from the tourism industry are taking part in Eastern Mediterranean International Tourism and Travel Fair EMITT held in Istanbul from 30th January to 2nd February 2014. The State Minister of Tourism, Honorable Ahmed Musthafa Mohamed is attending the fair as the head of Maldives Delegation. The Honorable State Minister will be meeting Mr.Ozgur Ozaslan, the Undersecretary of Tourism Ministry, Mr. Mesut Ozbek, The Head of Department of Foreign Affairs of Tourism Ministry and Mr. Nihat Boytuzun, The Honorary Consul General of Maldives for Turkey. Several other meetings will be conducted with the Top Travel Agents and Travel trade media of Turkey. The main purposes of these meetings are to identify opportunities to build strong ties between two countries and to identify strategies to increase the number of tourist arrivals from Turkey.
EMITT which is the 5th largest tourism fair in Europe has attracted Regions, development agencies, tourism companies and industry professionals from around the world. EMITT estimates this year’s fair will achieve much broader attendance compared to the previous years. Participating in this fair will create destination awareness among the Turkish market. The first two days of the fair are exclusively for the travel professionals and open to the public during the last two.
Turkey has a 73.7 million population and GDP growth rate of 11 percent (first quarter of 2011) ranking number 1 in the world, it is also part of G20 major economies. Beyond that, Turkey has a stable economy and the global economic downfall having had very little or no effect on the Turkish economy leading to a tremendous increase in outbound travel which is forecasted to reach 16 million trips in 2016. By November 2013, 8459 tourist arrivals were recorded from Turkey; this is an increase of 83.3% compared to the same period of 2012. Turkish market is a relatively small market for the Maldives by percentage share. Nonetheless, with the favorable market conditions and good connectivity established with the commencement of Turkish Airlines scheduled flights direct from Istanbul to Male’, there is huge potential for growth.

ELE|NA marks World Sleep Day with SleepSync wellness ritual
In recognition of World Sleep Day, ELE|NA highlights SleepSync, one of its Six Pillars of Vitality dedicated to restoration and circadian rhythm alignment, through the SleepSync Ritual, a deeply calming spa experience designed to guide guests toward profound, uninterrupted sleep. The ritual is implemented across all ELE|NA locations in both the Maldives and India, ensuring guests can reconnect with restorative sleep wherever they experience the brand.
In today’s always-connected world, restful sleep has become increasingly elusive. Within this ritual, the body is gently led from stimulation into stillness, releasing the tensions of the day, calming the nervous system and preparing the mind and body for restorative rest.
ELE|NA believes that sleep is not simply the absence of wakefulness, but an essential pillar of holistic wellbeing – where restoration, emotional balance and cellular renewal take place.

Supporting the Body’s Natural Sleep Rhythm
Sleep begins long before the moment the head meets the pillow. It is a gradual transition where the body releases the day and prepares for stillness.

Within ELE|NA’s SleepSync Rituals, this transition is approached with intention and calm. As evening settles, the body begins its quiet descent into rest with the following:
- Reduce blue light exposure before sleep
- Dim lighting to signal the body’s nighttime rhythm
- Create calm through mindful transitions away from daily activity
- Release thoughts through journaling
- Hydrate and support the body’s nighttime recovery
These small rituals help guide the body from stimulation to restoration.

Reclaiming the Night
World Sleep Day serves as an important reminder that quality sleep is not a luxury, but a foundation of health and longevity. When supported with mindful rituals and intentional slowing down, the night becomes a space for true renewal.
Through SleepSync Rituals, ELE|NA continues its commitment to nurturing holistic wellbeing, guiding individuals back to the natural rhythms that allow the body to rest, restore and awaken with clarity and vitality.
