Brazil legend Ronaldo holidays in Maldives
Brazilian football legend Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima, commonly known as Ronaldo, is holidaying in the Maldives.
Ronaldo arrived in the Maldives earlier this week with his girlfriend Celina Locks. The two are staying at the luxury Cheval Blanc Randheli resort in the northern Noonu atoll.
Accessible by a scenic 40-minute seaplane flight from the main Velana International Airport, Cheval Blanc Randheli is one-of-a-kind exclusive property from the luxury fashion group Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy. Designed by Jean-Michel Gathy, the creative mind behind some of the world’s most stunning resorts including the Chedi Muscat and many Aman resorts, Randheli marries contemporary aesthetic with the traditional Maldivian craftsmanship.
Ronaldo, who scored 62 goals in 98 appearances for his country, has been widely considered as one of the greatest football players of all time. A three-time FIFA World Player of the Year and two-time Ballon d’Or recipient, he has been named in the FIFA 100, a list of the greatest living players compiled in 2004, and inducted into the Brazilian Football Museum Hall of Fame and the Italian Football Hall of Fame.
At his physical peak in the 1990s, Ronaldo starred for Cruzeiro and PSV before he broke the world transfer record twice at just 20 years of age in signing for Barcelona followed by Inter Milan; this saw him become the second player after Diego Maradona to break the world transfer record twice. He has also played for Real Madrid, A.C. Milan and Corinthians.
Maldives is amongst the most sought after destinations by celebrity travellers from across the world.
Hollywood and Bollywood personalities as well as world-renowned music artists have all declared the Maldives as their favourite part of the world for a relaxing getaway. Sports personalities, including the likes of David Beckham, Carlos Tevez, Arjen Robben, Miroslav Klose and Franz Beckenbauer have also fell in love with the white sand beaches and the blue skies of the Maldives.
