Jumeirah Vittaveli wins Travel Agents Choice Award

Maldives.net.mv – Jumeirah Vittaveli has won the ‘Best Hotel/Resort in India and the Indian Ocean’ Travel Agents Choice award 2015.
The Travel Agent’s Choice awards are the only travel awards entirely nominated and voted for by the UK travel retailers and carry special significance in the travel industry.
Jumeirah Vittaveli’s General Manager, Mr Graham Kiy, received the award at a function held on board the Sunborn Yacht at the World Travel Market in London. The trophy was presented by Mr Steve Hartridge, Managing Editor of Selling Travel, the travel trade magazine that founded the awards together with the online training provider Travel Uni.

Jumeirah Vittaveli is popular with guests from the UK, who love the resort’s pristine beaches and activities on offer.
Guests can try stand-up paddle boarding, private yacht cruises, blissful spa treatments or sample the culturally connected experiences on offer such as the lacquerware presentations. Twice a week, guests can witness live demonstrations of this traditional art form and purchase authentic souvenirs.
Jumeirah Vittaveli has also recently introduced the Vittaveli Elite Club, which offers travellers daily bubbly breakfasts and includes complimentary daily replenishment of the in-villa Maxi-Bar.
The Travel Agents Choice award comes after a successful year for Jumeirah Vittaveli, having recently won ‘Maldives’ Leading Spa Resort’ at the World Travel Awards 2015 and ‘Luxury Resort of the Year’ at the Luxury Travel Guide Global Awards 2015.

Maldives island featured on Google Earth Day doodle

Google marked Earth Day on Tuesday with a special doodle highlighting selected natural landscapes from around the world, including a site from the Maldives.
The doodle used satellite images to form the letters of the word “Google,” with each letter represented by a distinct geographical location. The capital “G” was illustrated using the uninhabited island of Eriyadhoo in Shaviyani Atoll, Maldives.
The image chosen for Eriyadhoo shows the island surrounded by white sand and turquoise waters, forming a shape resembling the first letter of Google’s name.
Other locations featured in the doodle included an O-shaped river in the French mountains for the first “O” and a section of the wilderness area in Quebec, Canada, for the second “O.” The second “G” was shaped by a mountain river in Argentina. The “L” depicted part of the mountainous terrain in the US state of Utah, while the final “E” was represented by a remote area in New South Wales, Australia.
