Jumeirah Vittaveli celebrates Oktoberfest in tropical style

Jumeirah Vittaveli is celebrating Oktoberfest, Munich’s most iconic festival, by giving it a tropical spin.

The Jumeirah Vittaveli Oktoberfest began on September 25 and will go on till October 15.

“Set to the backdrop of the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean and a host of activities on the island, guests will experience the festival like never before,” an announcement by the resort read.

Jumeirah Vittaveli has collaborated with authentic Bavarian costume designer Daniel Fendler, who has been designing stylish ‘Tracht’ for more than 15 years and dressed stars such as Helene Fischer, Florian Silbereisen, Sylvie Meis, and Olympic ice skater Kathi Witt.

Guests visiting beachside restaurant MU Beach Bar and Grill are being welcomed by waitresses and waiters decked out in authentic Bavarian garb – from Dirndl, over apron, to Lederhosen for the gentlemen. With the mood properly set for a fun day in the sun, the resort’s ‘Bierzelt-Bedienungen’ (waiters/waitresses) are serving guests a selection of authentic Bavarian dishes such as Nuernberger, Frankfurter or Kasseler Rippchen, accompanied by a refreshing Erdinger or Paulaner German beer.

Besides the celebrations at MU Beach Bar & Grill the island has a host of activities to keep the guests busy.

For those seeking adventure, the island’s water sports centre offers flyboarding. For those looking to experience the wonder of the underwater world of the Maldives, there are diving and snorkelling excursions to see turtles and magnificent shipwrecks. On the island itself, guests can turn to the spa for an afternoon of rest and relaxation or lounge along the beach facing the crystal clears waters of the lagoon. For the evenings, guests have the choice of a culinary journey through India in the resort’s signature restaurant Swarna, or an overwater fine dining experience featuring French cuisine at Fenesse.

This year, Jumeirah Vittaveli has celebrated a vibrant Chinese New Year and an Alice in Wonderland themed Easter. A Carnivals around the World Festive season is still to come.

Located a short 20-minute ride on board a luxurious motorised catamaran from capital, Jumeirah Vittaveli offers unmatched diversity, subtle luxury and personalised exploration, whether you are seeking a romantic getaway or an exotic destination for your family.

In addition to the brand new Royal Residence, which was recently recognised as Indian Ocean’s Leading Luxury Hotel Villa at the World Travel Awards, Jumeirah Vittaveli comprises 89 villas and suites each with their own swimming pool and direct access to the beach or lagoon. The private and spacious villas are available with one or two bedrooms making them the ideal accommodation for both families and couples. Highlights are the free-standing Ocean Suites, located only a heartbeat away from the main island and accessible by complimentary boat service.
