MMPRC Launches Social Media Campaign
Maldives Promotion House – Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has launched a new digital and social media campaign. Their aim is to increase their Facebook page fans and, to create a stronger presence in twitter.
According to MMPRC they will also attempt to increase newsletter subscriptions, and empower locals on destination promotion while utilizing digital and social media platforms in attracting potential visitors.
The campaign which is divided into two phases will conclude its first phase on 31st May of this year. While their official Facebook page has 4015 fans, their target for the end of Phase 1 is 10,000. While they currently have 458 twitter followers, they are targeting 2000 followers by 31st May. They also aim to increase newsletter subscriptions to 6000 from the current 5500.
Their second phase ends by the end of 2012 and is aimed at gathering 50,000 Facebook fans, 14,000 twitter followers, and 10,000 subscribers.
MMPRC also announced a Brand Ambassador for Maldives social media competition for locals. According to MMPRC the objective is to create social media awareness among locals and to attract support for the brand name “Maldives…the sunny side of life.” They also expect the competition to drive more subscriptions to their newsletter and to increase their followers and fans in social media platforms.
In order to participate in the competition you must subscribe to the MMPRC newsletter and also create and submit a Social Media Marketing Proposal. Competitors will also have to run their own campaign from the day they subscribe. Monthly summary reports also have to be sent to MMRPC with proof of activities.
The competition will run from 1st may to 1st October 2012 and the brand ambassador for social media will be announced during 1st week of October. The winner is granted a MVR 80,000 worth all expenses paid trip to London, to attend WTM 2012 as the “Social Media Ambassador”, along with a full day tour of London city. The winner will also get the opportunity to work for Digital & Social Media Department of MMPRC.
