Maldives and Seychelles Collaborates on Promoting Tourism
Maldives Promotion House – High level delegates from Maldives and Seychelles recently met to discuss potential areas of collaboration between both countries on joint actions to promote tourism and to make the Indian Ocean a more familiar destination in the tourism market worldwide.
The meeting held at the Seychelles Tourism Board’s Bel Ombre offices, were attended by the Minister of State for Tourism, Arts and Culture of Maldives, Mr. Thoyyib Mohamed, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, Mr. Alain St.Ange, the Deputy CEO of the Tourism Board of Seychelles, Mrs. Elsia Grandcourt and the Maldives Consul based in Seychelles, Mr. Lambert Bonne.
While the meeting was mainly to discuss the joint actions between both counties to promote tourism, discussions were also held on potential possibilities of Maldives involvement as a partner in the 2012 Seychelles Carnival.
“The meeting with [the] Maldives Minister responsible for tourism, and Mr. Bonne, the Maldives local Consul, was good. We have a new partner and one that is committed to working together. He believes, as we do, in joint actions and is considering propositions for Maldives’ involvement as a partner in the Seychelles Carnival, now known as the unique carnival of carnivals. The same proposition is also being considered by La Reunion. Both Madame Grandcourt and myself were happy with the meeting that paves the way for a closer working partnership,” Alain St.Ange said
During the meeting Mr. Thoyyib Mohamed invited Mr. Alain St.Ange to the Maldives to attend a seminar of Asian Tour Operators to be held during September 2011.
