Maldives Once Again Among World Travel Awards Regional Nominees

Maldives Promotion House – Praised as the Oscars of the Travel Industry, the World Travel Awards bring together a collection of best hotels and resorts all over the world. Recently the World Travel Awards has revealed the top hotel nominees from around the world, who are competing for the prestigious award in 2012.

As always Maldives has been nominated from the Indian Ocean region. This year Maldives will compete with popular tropical destinations like, Mauritius, Seychelles, Reunion Island and Madagascar.

Maldives was nominated for, Indian Ocean’s Leading Airport, Indian Ocean’s Leading Cruise Destination and Cruise Port and for Indian Ocean’s Leading Tourist Board. Maldives is also likely to win the title for Indian Ocean’s Leading Honeymoon Destination for the third consecutive year. Vermillion International Maldives and Inner Maldives Holidays have been nominated for Indian Ocean’s Leading Travel Agency.

Maldives as a destination was nominated in all the key categories. While more than a dozen Maldivian resorts compete for the most renowned titles of WTA, Maldives must compete against Mauritius, La Reunion, Madagascar, Comoros and Seychelles, for the Indian Oceans’ Leading Destination.

Maldivian resort islands, displaying a wide range of exquisite holiday destinations, dominated the categories for Leading Green Resort, Leading Luxury Resort, and Leading Water Villa Group. Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts, Four Seasons, Hilton Hotels, Hotels Constance, One & Only Resort and Six Senses Resorts & Spas were nominated for the Leading Hotel Brand.

“As the tension surrounding the regional ceremonies builds, we are looking forward to revealing the leading players and tracking their progress as they head to our Grand Final 2012 in December,” Founder & President of WTA, Graham E. Cooke said.
