Maldives amongst world’s most searched for destinations in 2017
Maldives was one of the most searched for destinations in the world this year, data from Google revealed Wednesday.
The search giant released its year-end data, and amongst the most searched lists for 2017 are the top searched destinations in the world. Las Vegas took the top spot, Barcelona came in second, and South Carolina’s Myrtle Beach snagged third.
Many of these destinations are dreamy vacation spots like the Maldives, Bali, Aspen and Punta Cana. Warm-weather destinations like the Maldives dominated the top 10, with Bermuda, Turks and Caicos, and Cancun also making the list.

According to the latest statistics, total tourist arrivals to the Maldives for the first nine months of the year increased by 5.7 percent to reach 998,009 compared to the 944,544 in the same period of last year.
The destination has won multiple awards this year as well, with the most recent being World’s Leading Honeymoon Destination and World’s leading Dive Destination titles at the 24th annual World Travel Awards and Indian Ocean’s Best Spa Destination at the 3rd annual World Spa Awards.
