Maldives favourite honeymoon destination for Koreans
Maldives is the favourite honeymoon destination of South Koreans, according to ticket sales analysis by online travel agency Interpark Tour.
The Maldives has been favoured by honeymooners from Korea since the late 90s when it became the go to holiday destination for several Korean celebrities. What attracts the Maldives, according to the analysis, is its ‘one island, one resort’ concept.
In addition to the Maldives, a significant number of honeymoon travellers from Korea also visit Hawaii, Bali, Europe and Phuket, the analysis showed.
Tourist arrivals to the Maldives from Korea dropped 10 percent last year to reach 29,580 compared to 33,001 the previous year. However, the Korean market has seen growth this year with 1,945 tourists visiting the Maldives in January compared to 1,896 in January 2016.
