Sir Robin Knox-Johnston aboard Soneva in Aqua in the Maldives
Sir Robin-Knox Johnston, the celebrated British sailor and first man to perform a single-handed non-stop circumnavigation of the globe, sailed onboard Soneva in Aqua recently in the Maldives.
An ultra-luxurious and highly refined yacht, Soneva in Aqua measures 19. 28 metres in length and 6.40 metres in width, with exceptionally spacious interiors. Highlights of the yacht include spacious decks with daybeds and dining areas, an outdoor Jacuzzi, and a glass-bottomed Jacuzzi in the master bedroom. Highly skilled and trained crew on board includes a Captain, a Sous Chef, a Mr Friday (butler), a Dive Instructor, a Therapist and an Astronomer (on request). Bespoke itineraries are available for one, two, three and seven night adventures to explore the untouched beauty of far-flung Maldivian atolls.
During his stay, Sir Robin also delivered a presentation at Cinema Paradiso to the guests of Soneva Fushi, the brand’s flagship resort in the Maldives. During the speech, he talked about how he competed in the round-the-world race on his yacht ‘Suhaili’ in 1969, which took him 312 days. Recently, he also became the oldest yachtsman to complete a round-the-world solo voyage in the Velux 5 Oceans sail finishing in 2007 at the age of 68.
