Maldivian begins flights to Nanjing, China
Maldives.net.mv – Maldives welcomes new flights from Nanjing, China today with the inaugural flight from Maldivian Airlines, bringing in over 200 passengers from the rising secondary city in China. Nanjing with its rich culture and history is one of the new and growing areas of the market for Maldives.
The flight from Nanjing arrived today at 09.00am at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport. The arrivals were warmly welcomed by the Chinese Ambassador for Maldives, together with senior representatives from Island Aviation Services Ltd (IASL) and Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation (MMPRC). Their arrival was colorfully celebrated with bouquets and performance by ‘Dhammaanu Boduberu’ group, upon landing.
Maldivian airlines, the national carrier in Maldives, are commencing flights to two other cities in China along with Nanjing; Changsha and Xian, with the inaugural flight which arrived today from Nanjing. The second flight arrives from Changsha on 6th February at 0745hrs and another from Xian on 8th February at 0705hrs. Arrivals from these flights will also be warmly welcomes at the arrivals terminal.
With the growing Chinese arrivals, this operation will help maintain the sustainable growth pattern and also tapping into new markets in the region will assist in increasing the market that is currently growing rapidly with great potential of expansion in the years ahead as well. Chinese are now the top spenders in the world beating Germany from the number one position. China has managed to position itself as the number one market in terms of arrivals to Maldives since 2010.
