Wine Dinners for Wine Lovers

Published

on

Maldives Promotion House – If you’re a wine lover, then visiting the Maldives can guarantee you a very merry Christmas at Conrad Maldives Rangali Island. Conrad will play host to two outstanding wine producers, the Italian sensation Antinori and the legendary Chateau Latour. This December, Antinori’s Stefano Leone will be at the luxury resort from 5th to 10th December while Frederic Engerer of Chateau Latour visits from 28th December to 3rd January 2012. Each will host different wine-tasting dinners where an excellent range of their wines will be opened.

“These wine dinners will be a wonderful intimate experience,” the resort’s Sommelier Michael Arcena, said. “The Wine Cellar only seats 12 guests around a long table so everyone will be able to speak in person to him and ask any and all questions they may have about the wine.”

Leone will host food-and-wine pairing dinners in the resort’s underground wine cellar on 7th and 9th December. Prices are based per person and the five-course dinner will include eight wines from the legendary Antinori estate in Tuscany. Over the leisurely dinners, oenophiles will try these Antinori wines: Montenisa Brut; Scalabrone rose 2010; Cervaro Castello della Sala, 2008; Chianti Classico Tenute Marchese riserva, 2007; a horizontal 2007 tasting of Guado al Tasso, Tignanello, Solaia; Muffato della Sala; and the repasts end with a soothing Grappa Tignanello as a digestif.

During his stay, Engerer will host three degustation dinners. One will be held at Ithaa undersea restaurant on 28th December priced at USD 780 per person. The Wine Cellar will also host one on 30th December prices based per person, and one will be held at the over-water Mandhoo restaurant on 2nd January, prices based per person. The dinners include all wines, pre-dinner champagne and canapés and the dinner itself.

Each course is accompanied by wines from the Chateau Latour estate collection with food prepared by the resort’s Executive Chef Mark Rowsell Turner to match each wine. The dinners promise to be sparkling evenings with lively conversation centering on fine food and the best wines.

Sun Siyam Iru Fushi hosts Michelin-starred Chef Robin Pietsch

Published

Modern travellers increasingly view a destination as a collection of flavours to be explored, often reserving their dining experiences at the same moment they book their stay to ensure a true sense of discovery.

Sun Siyam Iru Fushi has embraced this trend, aligning its “Premium Island Experience” with exclusive chef residencies that transform an island stay into a sophisticated, curated sensory adventure. This approach reflects the resort’s core philosophy in reimagining the guest experience in its 15 dining venues and bars.

Central to this refined vision, the resort’s Easter programme debuted with a bespoke four-course residency masterminded by Michelin-starred Chef Robin Pietsch. Collaborating closely with Executive Chef Putu Wijana and Beverage Manager & Sommelier Sunil Kumar, Pietsch ensured every ingredient achieved a sensual harmony with its chosen vintage pairing—a true study in the art of culinary chemistry.

The residency was hosted at Islander’s Grill, the resort’s beachfront destination, where the “Land & Sea” menu showcased technical precision through signatures such as Hand-Cut Beef Tartare finished with a silken yolk and garden botanicals; Lightly Cured Cod jewelled with Beluga Caviar; and a succulent Beef Cheek with Seared Foie Gras and winter truffle.

The experience concluded with a Topfen Dumpling accented by papaya, yogurt, and almond. The menu featured curated pairings, including French Champagne and a selection of prestigious French and Italian wines.

“We strive for a synergy between Michelin-standard precision and the evocative pulse of local and regional provenance. This marriage of world-class craft enables us to elevate our flavour profile, establishing a new lineage of bespoke dishes that honour our heritage while setting a sophisticated benchmark for the Sun Siyam Iru Fushi dining experience,” highlighted Abdulla Atham, Sun Siyam Iru Fushi Resort Manager.
