Volunteers for the Tiny Islands
Maldives Promotion House – Tiny Island Volunteers is a company registered in the United Kingdom. The organization is geared towards bringing in foreign volunteers like teachers, aerobics instructor and coaches. Tiny Island Conservation is their Maldivian Non Governmental Organisation which runs their programmes in collaboration with other island NGOs like Naifaru Juvenile.
Based in Lhaviyani atoll Naifaru, the Tiny Island Volunteer programme, implements conservation projects throughout Maldives. It also assists volunteers around the world to become educated and involved in promoting more sustainable practices within the communities.
Through voluntary teaching programmes overseas, you are able to fundamentally impact the future of children in developing countries and help young children develop a solid foundation for basic numeracy and literacy. Teaching programmes will include teaching primary school children of age 6 to10 years old and high school children of age 11 to 16 years old.
They also offer coaching opportunities for those interested in beach volleyball, cricket, basketball, table tennis, and football. Fitness classes are also held in the evenings and will usually involve three sessions of forty five minutes each.
Volunteers are encouraged to get involved with as many island activities as possible. You can join in swimming lessons, island walking groups, or even helped out at our marine centre.
Medical, dental and healthcare volunteers of all ages and nationalities are also invited. Areas such as awareness, outreach education, dental care, patient care and psychological treatment for abused women and children are all in need of volunteers.
While they also run a turtle conservation project, through them you can also help conserve the elephants and other wildlife of Sri Lanka in Wasgamuwa National Park. They have a marine conservation centre and a sea station where they aim to increase the declining turtle population.
Note: This is the only organization of its kind in Maldives that runs such a diverse collection of opportunities to volunteers, along with a full turtle conservation project.
