Anantara Maldives Introduces 365 Days of Good Deeds
Maldives Promotion House – Anantara Hotels, Resorts and Spas has launched a sustainability and humanitarian project called 365 Days of Good Deeds.
The initiative will involve the immersion of its 17 properties across the world. Apart from Maldives, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Middle East will participate in sustainability projects that will give back to the local communities.
The aim of the project is to both improve the lives of proximate communities as well as improve the cultural and environmental surrounds of each Anantara destination. In accordance with the program initiative, at least one good deed will take place each day during 2012.
Anantara is extending an invitation to all guests to take part in the program by combining their five-star Anantara holiday of heritage, tradition and natural wonder with participation in a number of good deeds that will help the surrounding local communities.
On offer is the chance to rescue street elephants in Thailand, marine turtle protection in Phuket, coral rejuvenation in the Maldives or helping local farmers in Indonesia. The aim of the program is not to raise money but to carry out a corporate responsibility program on a grassroots level.
The idyllic picturesque destination of the Maldives features Anantara Kihavah Villas where Anantara has set up an eye camp on Kudarikilu Island. Together with professional opticians the camp offers regular complimentary eye checks for the island inhabitants and its neighbours. The Maldives resort also runs a coral adoption programs and resort guests are invited to plant coral for the regeneration of the Maldives ecosystem. Guests are guided by resident marine biologists who will highlight and discuss the importance of replanting coral in the fragile Atolls.
Due to the location of many of Anantara’s resorts the initiative to preserve these exotic destinations has become a major component of the Anantara principle and holiday philosophy. By encouraging guests to take part the Anantara hopes guests will have unforgettable holiday experiences and will leave a destination knowing they have given back to the environment and local community.
