Maldives voted as a top destination at Telegraph Travel Awards

Gili – The winners of the 2015-16 Telegraph Travel Awards – voted for by more than 75,000 readers – have been announced.

Following what is the most comprehensive, wide-ranging and reliable travel survey in Britain, the world’s best destinations, airlines, tour operators and cruise lines were recognised at a ceremony on Tuesday, 12th April 2016.

The awards were introduced by Charles Starmer-Smith, The Telegraph’s Head of Travel, and presented by Gyles Brandreth, the broadcaster and former MP.

Maldives came up as the runner up in the Best Country category behind New Zealan while Cape Town was voted as the favourite city. Audley picked up the highly-coveted award for best tour operator and Six Six Senses Hotels Resort Spas was awarded best hotel group. British Airways was voted as the best short-haul airlines while Emirates was awarded best long-haul airlines.
