Etihad Airways Begins Maldives Promotion with Facebook
Maldives Promotion House – The national airline of the United Arab Emirates, Etihad Airways has officially launched its Facebook fan page. With the launching of the page they also began a major competition promoting new services to Maldives’ capital city, Malé.
The “Escape to Paradise” promotion will choose a winner to receive roundtrip airfares for two on the inaugural flight to Malé. Included in the prices are transfers and four night’s villa accommodation at Six Senses Laamu Maldives with complete full board meals.
To participate in the promotion, fans must complete a Facebook quiz which determines how romantic they are. Once the quiz is completed, an instant feedback from the quiz is sent, and you are entered to win the grand prize trip. Available for participation and entry until July 31, 2011, the quiz is exclusively on Etihad Airways’ Facebook page.
“Social media channels are allowing companies to become increasingly creative and innovative with their marketing and communications approach. We are thrilled to officially launch this exciting campaign promoting Etihad’s services to the Maldives, one of the most romantic places in the world and a top honeymoon destination for our guests,” Etihad’s Chief Commercial Officer, Peter Baumgartner said.
“This is just the beginning for Etihad. We are focused on creating compelling and exciting content and promotions for our fan base and will look for innovative ways to tell the Etihad story and further encourage people to fly on the world’s leading airline,” he added.
While the page is filled with images, videos, updates, announcements and promotions. It is also used for content showcasing of the airline’s fleet, cabins, destinations and sponsorships. Featuring a dedicated careers page and flight search tab, users are allowed to participate in discussions, take polls and make inquiries about a range of topics and events.
If all goes according to plan Etihad will begin operations to Malé, on 1st November. The airline will operate a daily return service from its home base in Abu Dhabi to Malé International Airport, operating the Airbus A320 aircraft on the route, while making Malé the 67th destination on Etihad’s global network.
