Velaa Private Island unveils redesigned Private Residence NIKA

Velaa Private Island has unveiled NIKA, one of the Private Residences redesigned by world-famous Spanish Interior Designer Patricia Urquiola.

The ‘Designer of the Decade’ re-imagined one of the prestigious four-bedroom Private Residences, which was unveiled right before the festive season.

In her design, Urquiola plays with the perception between indoor and outdoor, challenging the defining lines between the spaces. She used materials such as raffia, natural wood and earthy textiles on the vertical panels to help to embrace the space, creating a warm, comfortable and light habitat.

“The redesign of NIKA is the first in a series of redecorations by renowned international designers which we will announce soon,” an announcement read.

With four bedrooms accommodating up to 10 guests, the Velaa Private Residences offer elegant contemporary design and 1,350 square metres of private interior and exterior space, inclusive of two terraces, a pool and a courtyard.

Secluded on a pristine private beach, these two-storey detached residences are laid out with privacy in mind. Each of the four bedrooms face the ocean across a stretch of icing sugar sand; the first floor bedrooms have generous balconies, whilst the ground floor rooms open onto the pool. Indoor and outdoor bathrooms are connected by a garden atrium.

Flanked by two gazebos for dining, relaxation or playing, the pool reflects the ocean and is the central focus. Behind the living space a gym, spa room and outdoor living area offer plenty of quiet spaces to retire to.

Tucked away within the collection of islands that form the northern Noonu atoll, Velaa Private Island is elegantly positioned to overlook enchanting vistas of a cerulean ocean. Its name derived from generations of sea turtles that flock there to nest and hatch; it is comprised of 47 private villas, houses and exclusive residences. The resort also includes a Romantic Pool Residence which can only be reached by boat.

At Velaa Private Island, all details have been considered: each villa comes with a personal butler, all services offered can be tailored to personal specifications. Attention to detail everywhere is also impeccable: stone pavements from the desert in Jordan, Indonesian flowerpots, luxury wood panelling from Borneo, and glimmering Italian marble.
