MMPRC announces second batch of photography ambassadors
Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has announced a fresh batch of photography ambassadors to promote the Maldives.
Ambassadorship agreements were signed with six photographers at a special ceremony held Monday morning at the MMPRC office in capital Male. Deputy tourism minister Hussain Lirar, MMPRC’s acting managing director Haris Mohamed, and top officials from the ministry and MMPRC attended the ceremony.
The six photographers that have been appointed as the new photography ambassadors are:
- Mohamed Ajufaan Najih, Aerial Photography
- Shafraz Naeem, Underwater Photography
- Ali ‘Eliyz’ Mohamed, Spiritual Side of Life
- Zihan Ibrahim, Maldivian Side of Life
- Mohamed Miuvaan, Romantic Side of Life
- Zidhan Ibrahim, Thrilling Side of Life
Launched last year with five local photographers, the MMPRC Photography Ambassador Programme is an initiative designed to stimulate and empower the local photography industry. It is created to offer a new platform for established as well as upcoming local photographers to be recognised internationally and venture into new international tourism based domains.
“It is the belief of MMPRC that this program can help to create more employment opportunities for local photographers and provide a platform for Maldivian photography to prosper within the Maldives tourism industry,” the state tourism promotion company said, in a statement.
The photography ambassadors will be working closely with MMPRC for a period of one year to promote the destination under the slogan, “Maldives…the Sunny Side of Life”. Their photos will be used on the official social media channels of MMPRC as well as at international travel trade fairs such as ITB Berlin and WTM London.
