Flyme welcomes its first ‘seeplane’ to Maldives – Villa Air’s Flyme has brought its first aircraft to begin seaplane operations. Aircraft arrived Ibrahim Nasir International Airport on Monday after a 30 day trip from USA by stopping in six countries.

The amphibious Cessna Caravan C208 aircraft is decorated uniquely as a Whale Shark by renowned American aircraft artist John Stahr.

Branded as Flyme Seeplane, the aircraft will be operated for charter trips, sight-seeing and excursion trips. The SEEPLANE is air-conditioned, has leather seats as well as large windows to capture that perfect photo. This is a unique opportunity for tourists to experience the real value of a seaplane flight. The airplane typically seats seven passengers with a pilot and co-pilot.

Villa Air was incorporated in 1997 by the Chairman of Villa Group Hon. Qasim Ibrahim with a vision to build an airport and to create an airline, branded later as FlyMe, owned by Villa Group. Villa Air/FlyMe had its maiden flight on October 1st 2011 between Villa Airport Mamigili (VAM) and Ibrahim Nasir International Airport. The beginning of commercial operations of FlyMe to VAM creates a 24/7 safe and convenient air corridor between Male International Airport and south Air Atoll. Today Villa Group is the proud owner of the only ICAO Certified (Domestic/Private) airport in Maldives.
