Universal Enterprises Builds a Mosque to Assist Local Community

Maldives Promotion House – Maldivian hotel chain Universal Enterprises recently constructed a mosque in Alif Alif Rasdhoo. Inaugurated by President Mohamed Nasheed, the mosque, “Masjidhul Hudhaa,” was opened on 22nd July. The mosque was inaugurated preceding the Friday prayers.

With a total capacity of 600 people the mosque is built in compliance with modern architectural standards. The mosque was constructed in remembrance of the late Aminath Hussain Kaleyfaanu of Kolige, daughter of the late Maizaandhoshuge Hussain Kaleyfaanu of Rasdhoo.

Following the inauguration of the mosque, the people of Rasdhoo presented the Chairman of Universal Enterprises, Mohamed Manik, with a memento. The mosque was designed by a local designer Ahmed Abbas and the project was undertaken by a local construction company Amin Construction.

Such undertakings are perfect examples of the tourism industry’s efforts to promote social responsibility among other hotels and to develop the local island communities.
