Soneva Introduces Queen of Champagne to Maldives
Maldives Promotion House – The two luxurious resort islands of Soneva by Six Senses, surrounded by the famed beauty of Maldives, are famous for their wine collections. Among the two, Soneva Fushi has gained worldwide recognition for their unique selection of wines. Their climate controlled subterranean wine cellar holds up to some seven thousand bottles of wine.
Recently the underground wine cellar of Soneva Gili transformed their wine tasting experiences. To further the experience ever more, their Sommelier creates a fantastic chocolate and wine pairing to be enjoyed before or after dinner.
Moreover, this August world renowned champagne writer and editor of FINE Champagne Magazine, Essi Avellan, will be visiting the Maldives to conduct a series of talks. Essi, who is the first Master of Wine from Finland and also a judge at many international champagne awards, will give guests a masterclass on champagnes of all prices, styles and ages, including non-vintages, vintage and prestige cuvées.
According to Soneva you might even have the chance to taste a few of those priceless wines. Avellan will be at Soneva Fushi from 3rd to 9th August, and will continue her stay in Maldives at Soneva Gili from 9th to 13th August.
The Managing Editor of FINE Champagne Magazine, Essi Avellan, is the first Master of Wine from Finland and the second ever from the Nordic countries. She was awarded the Tim Derouet Memorial Award and the Lily Bollinger Medal for excellence in the Master of Wine examination. Essi Avellan is also the Editorial Adviser of the FINE-magazines.
While Avellan contributes internationally to a number of newspapers and wine and food magazines, her main expertise area and passion is champagne. She holds a Master’s Degree in business administration and has been working in the wine business for over ten years. Prior to founding her own business, she worked as a Wine Buyer and Product Manager for the Nordic duty-free ferry operator of Silja Line.
