Maldives Promotion House – Voyages to Antiquity, a premium cruise company, has announced the launch of its first new winter program including new itineraries that explore historic civilizations of Southeast Asia and South Pacific including Maldives.
Since the May 2010 launch of their MV Aegean Odyssey, Voyages to Antiquity itineraries have focused mainly on sailings throughout the Mediterranean region between March and November, and will reach Maldives somewhere around the 13th of November 2011. In 2012, the line will expand its product offerings to extend the brand to other relevant destinations, including an exceptional array of Far East programs.
The itinerary program features in-depth exploration of the history, culture, art and mysteries of the classical civilizations throughout South East Asia. Special highlights feature included shore excursions on all sailings, pre and post hotel stays in renowned cities such as Malé, capital of Maldives, and overnight excursions.
Voyages to Antiquity, was established in 2009, and currently owns the MV Aegean Odyssey. Originally built as a ferry, it was converted to a cruise ship in 1988, and substantially rebuilt again in 2010. The ship has been refitted and renovated in Piraeus to cater for cruising in the coastal waters of the central and southern Mediterranean, and she can visit ports that are too small for most cruise ships
The passenger capacity was also reduced from 570 to around 380, in order to provide more spacious accommodation, and the cinema was removed in favour of a lecture hall, with new dining areas established.
