HIH celebrates winning Most Outstanding Culinary Organisation award for eighth year

Hulhule Island Hotel (HIH) has celebrated being recognised as the ‘Most Outstanding Culinary Organisation’ at the Food and Hospitality Asia Maldives (FHAM) International Culinary Challenge for the eighth year.

The annual event, organised by the Chefs Guild of Maldives in association with the Chefs Guild of Sri Lanka, enables chefs to demonstrate their skills before a panel of international judges. A total of 67 resorts in the Maldives represented by 564 competitors took part in this year’s edition.

At the culinary challenge, HIH bagged the top honour; ‘Most Outstanding Culinary Organisation 2017′. Additionally, the airport hotel’s culinary team won trophies for the ‘Best Pastry Chef’, ‘Best Artistic Pastry Showpiece’ and ‘Creative Maldivian Meal’.

A Bed Making and Decorating Competition, a Mocktail Competition and a Barista Championship were also hosted during FHAM.

HIH’s housekeeping department received a bronze from the Bed Making and Decorating Competition, while a silver and a bronze medal were won by the hotel’s F&B team in the Mocktail Competition and Barista Championship respectively.

“To celebrate the success of the achievements at the Culinary Challenge, accolades were presented in the hotel’s rewarding ceremony,” a statement issued by HIH read.

“General Manager Utkarsh Faujdar thanked and congratulated entire Team F&B and Housekeeping, in particular the winners, and addressed the entire Team HIH to seek inspiration from one another in scaling new heights for their self-development and that of the organisation. The celebration ended on an enjoyable note with group photograph for winners!”

HIH, the only hotel located on the airport island of Hulhule, provides free two-way shuttles to Velana International Airport, just five minutes’ drive away. With 136 guest rooms in various categories, HIH boasts a private beach, an outdoor pool and a golf putting green.

The hotel has six food and beverage options. Offering an international menu, Uduvilaa features glass walls overlooking the sea, while the 24-hour Faru Coffee House specialises in European, Japanese and Italian dishes.

Guests can enjoy a game of tennis or beach volleyball, or exercise in the fitness centre. Massages and body treatments are offered at the spa, which also features a sauna.
